On a Samsung Galaxy, you can share access to the Wi-Fi network you’re currently connected to by showing its QR code. Samsung’s instructions verify QR-code sharing, but do not establish that the code screen displays the password as readable text.
Share your connected Wi-Fi network with a QR code
Samsung’s documented method lets another device join without you typing out the password. Your Galaxy must already be connected to the network you want to share.
- Open Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi.
- Tap the settings icon beside the network your Galaxy is currently connected to.
- Tap QR code.
- Have the other person scan the code with their device to join the network.
These steps follow Samsung Support’s Wi-Fi sharing instructions, last updated August 1, 2022. The instructions describe sharing the connection through a QR code; they do not confirm that the screen reveals the password in plain text.

Samsung’s published instructions verify how to share the connected network, not how to display or copy its underlying password as text. They also do not establish a method for sharing a saved network while the Galaxy is disconnected from it. If you need the literal password, check the router label or the router’s administration interface; those are general alternatives, not steps verified for Samsung phones.

Why your Galaxy menus may look different
Samsung’s documented labels are Settings > Connections > Wi-Fi, but menus and feature availability can vary by Galaxy model, software version, or region. Samsung’s support page does not provide a current compatibility table, so these steps should not be treated as a guarantee for every device.
Android’s Wi-Fi sharing path uses different labels
On devices using Google’s documented Android interface, the route is Settings > Network & internet > Internet, select the Wi-Fi network, then tap Share to show a QR code. Google notes that some steps apply only to Android 12 and later. These are general Android menu labels; Samsung Galaxy menus may differ. See Google’s instructions for connecting to Wi-Fi networks on Android.
