Shadow Rush Demo can run only on Windows PCs that meet its published minimum: a 64-bit SSE2-capable processor, 4 GB of RAM, an Nvidia GTX 750 Ti, DirectX 9, and 200 MB of free storage. Those figures are a compatibility floor, not a promise of 60 frames per second, a particular resolution, or any graphics preset. The free demo launched on Steam on June 12, 2026 (app 4366540).
Steam lists full Xbox and PlayStation controller support. Steam Deck compatibility is currently Unknown, while platform metadata identifies Windows as the supported system. Because no authoritative benchmark, recommended specification, target frame rate, or Deck profile has been published, use the procedure below to evaluate performance on your own hardware rather than treating the minimum GPU as a performance guarantee.
What Shadow Rush Demo is and what this article covers
Shadow Rush is described on its Steam store page as an isometric hack-and-slash RPG with a unique combat system. The demo is free to download through Steam and focuses on fast arena combat, build experimentation with shards, six selectable characters, and progression between arenas. Movement uses WASD, the left mouse button attacks, and the right mouse button dashes. Attacks and dashes move through four phases that activate equipped abilities, so stable input and frame pacing matter as much as a high average frame rate.

SteamDB records the release date as June 12, 2026 and identifies the application as 4366540. The solo developer, Andrew Teo, is continuing development toward a planned full-game release in 2027; a report dated October 16, 2026 quotes a comfortable completion estimate of April 16, 2027. That is an estimate, not a guaranteed launch date, and the demo’s requirements should not be read as final specifications for the finished game.

Official minimum requirements
The following is the complete minimum block published for the demo. It is the authoritative starting point for deciding whether a Windows PC is eligible to try it.
| Component | Published minimum | What it tells you |
|---|---|---|
| Operating system | Windows 7 | The game listing names Windows 7 as the minimum operating system. |
| Processor | 64-bit CPU with SSE2 support | The processor must be 64-bit and expose the SSE2 instruction set. |
| Memory | 4 GB RAM | This is the listed system-memory floor, not a recommendation for running many other applications simultaneously. |
| Graphics | Nvidia GTX 750 Ti | This is the only published GPU floor; no equivalent AMD, Intel, or newer-card tier is supplied. |
| Graphics API | DirectX 9 | The listing specifies DirectX 9 support. |
| Storage | 200 MB available space | The demo’s stated footprint is small, but Steam still needs room for download and installation operations. |
Windows 7 versus a current Steam installation
There is an important practical distinction between the game’s operating-system line and the Steam client. The listing says Windows 7 is the minimum for the application, but Steam’s client note says the client supports Windows 10 and later. In practice, a supported Windows 10 or Windows 11 installation is the sensible baseline for downloading and launching the demo through Steam. A machine that technically has Windows 7 may still encounter client, driver, or update limitations before the game itself starts.
Why the GTX 750 Ti line is not an FPS promise
A minimum GPU entry normally means that the developer considers the card a starting point for compatibility under some configuration. It does not establish 1080p output, 60 FPS, a stable frame time, or even a particular quality preset. No measured performance table accompanies this demo’s listing. The same caution applies to the CPU and 4 GB memory figures: meeting them clears a stated threshold, but does not describe how much headroom remains for Windows, Steam, background processes, or higher resolutions.

How to check your PC before installing
Use Windows’ built-in information tools and compare each result with the table above. Check the exact model rather than relying on a product family name or an online system summary.
- Confirm the Windows edition and architecture. Open Settings > System > About. Check the Windows version and whether the system type is 64-bit. The demo’s processor requirement is a 64-bit CPU, so a 32-bit Windows installation does not satisfy the published floor even if the processor itself is capable.
- Identify the processor. In the same About page, note the CPU model. If you need to verify SSE2 support on an older processor, run
dxdiagfrom Win+R and review the System information, then consult the processor manufacturer’s specification for its instruction-set support. Do not infer SSE2 from clock speed alone. - Check installed memory. Open Settings > System > About or Task Manager > Performance > Memory. Compare the installed total with the 4 GB minimum and close memory-heavy applications before launching. Windows may reserve part of installed RAM for hardware, so the usable figure can be lower than the headline capacity.
- Check the graphics adapter. In Task Manager > Performance > GPU or Device Manager > Display adapters, record the exact adapter name. The published comparison point is an Nvidia GTX 750 Ti. The listing does not provide an official equivalence table for other vendors or integrated graphics, so do not assume that a similarly named or newer-looking adapter has a documented match.
- Verify graphics API and drivers. Run
dxdiagand inspect the DirectX information, then install the latest driver offered for your GPU by its manufacturer. DirectX 9 support is listed as a requirement, but a current driver can still affect startup reliability and rendering behavior. - Check storage in Steam. Leave more than the stated 200 MB available on the library drive so Steam can download, unpack, and update the files. The requirement is a free-space threshold, not a guarantee that exactly 200 MB will be sufficient for every installation transaction.
What is and is not known about graphics performance
The authoritative pages reviewed publish no recommended tier, target FPS, resolution guidance, upscaling recommendation, graphics-preset benchmark, or tested Steam Deck settings. SteamDB supplies release and platform metadata, while the official Steam Community news focuses on release and balance updates rather than measured graphics results. Consequently, there is no defensible table that maps a particular GPU to 30, 60, or 120 FPS for this demo.
This evidence gap matters when interpreting online claims. A video recorded on one processor, driver, resolution, or build cannot be generalized to every PC. Treat any number you see elsewhere as a machine-specific observation unless it identifies the exact demo version, hardware, settings, and test conditions.

A safe way to tune the demo on your own PC
The following method avoids assuming that the demo exposes a particular menu or preset. Use only controls that actually appear in your build.
- Start with a known baseline. Close browsers, launchers, recording tools, and overlays that you do not need. Start the demo at the display’s native resolution with the default options. Record whether the menu, character selection, and first arena load without errors.
- Measure a repeatable scene. Play the same type of arena encounter for several minutes, including movement, attacks, dashes, and multiple enemies. Note average smoothness and whether slowdowns occur during effects or when the arena becomes crowded. A repeatable scene is more useful than judging the first quiet menu.
- Change one option at a time. If the build offers resolution, texture, effects, shadow, anti-aliasing, frame-limit, or vertical-sync controls, alter one setting and replay the same scene. Keep a short record of the setting, resolution, and observed behavior. Changing several options simultaneously prevents you from identifying the cause of an improvement or regression.
- Prioritize consistency over a peak number. In a fast action game, uneven frame times can make movement, attacks, and dashes feel worse even when an FPS counter shows a high average. If a frame limiter or vertical-sync option is available, test it for steadier pacing; do not assume a particular cap is optimal without measuring your display and hardware.
- Lower workload in a logical order. If the game is consistently slow, reduce output resolution or the heaviest visible-effects option first, then retest. If the frame rate is acceptable but hitching remains, investigate background applications, driver issues, storage activity, or memory pressure rather than immediately lowering every visual setting.
- Keep the result tied to your hardware. Save the settings that feel stable and write down your GPU, CPU, RAM, resolution, and demo build. This gives you a useful personal profile without turning it into an unsupported universal recommendation.
Recognizing a GPU, CPU, or memory limit
- GPU-bound behavior: Lowering resolution or effects produces a clear improvement, especially during ability effects or dense enemy groups.
- CPU-bound behavior: Lowering resolution changes little, while crowded arenas, enemy logic, or rapid combat produce slowdowns.
- Memory pressure: Stutters coincide with heavy background applications, long sessions, or disk activity. Close unnecessary programs and check Task Manager before changing visual quality.
- Input or display issues: Controls feel delayed even when rendering appears smooth. Test controller and mouse input separately, and check display synchronization options if the build provides them.
Controller support and control choices
Steam lists full support for Xbox and PlayStation controllers. That means a compatible controller is an officially supported input route, not a requirement: the store listing also specifies WASD movement, left-click attack, and right-click dash for keyboard and mouse. Because the combat system chains four attack and dash phases into equipped abilities, choose the device that lets you execute directional movement and repeated timing consistently. If a controller is not recognized, reconnect it before launching, check Steam Input’s per-game configuration, and test the device in another controller-enabled title to separate a game issue from a hardware or driver issue.
Steam Deck and other handheld PCs
Steam currently marks Shadow Rush Demo’s Steam Deck compatibility as Unknown. SteamDB identifies Windows as the supported system and does not publish a tested Deck profile, frame-rate target, power limit, or recommended resolution. Unknown is not the same as Verified, Playable, or Unsupported: it means you should expect to test the title yourself and that official compatibility guidance is absent.

A cautious Deck test
- Install the demo on the Deck and allow shader or game updates to finish.
- Launch with the default Proton and display settings first; do not begin by applying another game’s performance profile.
- Test a complete arena encounter using movement, attacks, dashes, and ability effects.
- Watch for launcher failures, missing input, visual corruption, unstable frame pacing, or rapid battery drain.
- Only after a successful baseline, test one resolution, frame-limit, or power change at a time and keep the setting that remains responsive during combat.
This procedure can tell you whether your particular Deck installation is usable, but it cannot convert an Unknown store status into an official compatibility claim.

For a fair comparison, collect the same fields for both games instead of comparing one title’s minimum GPU with another title’s recommended GPU.
| Comparison axis | Shadow Rush Demo | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Minimum operating system and API | Windows 7; DirectX 9 | Shows the stated software floor, while Steam’s current client support makes Windows 10 or 11 the practical baseline. |
| CPU and memory floor | 64-bit SSE2 CPU; 4 GB RAM | Older systems may meet the memory number but fail the architecture or instruction-set requirement. |
| GPU floor | Nvidia GTX 750 Ti | No official cross-vendor equivalence or performance tier is published. |
| Storage | 200 MB available | A small listed footprint, with additional working space prudent for Steam installation and updates. |
| Controller support | Full Xbox and PlayStation controller support listed | Indicates supported input devices without making a controller mandatory. |
| Handheld status | Steam Deck: Unknown; Windows listed as supported | No official Deck tuning or measured performance claim is available. |
| Recommended tier and measured FPS | Not published | There is no authoritative basis for promising a resolution, preset, or frame rate. |
Troubleshooting common problems
Steam will not install the demo
Check that the library drive has more free space than the listed footprint, that Steam is running on a supported current Windows installation, and that the download is not paused by another library or update task. Restart Steam after confirming the drive is writable. If the operating system is Windows 7, the Steam client itself is the likely practical limitation even though Windows 7 appears in the game’s minimum block.

The demo launches to a black screen or closes immediately
Update the graphics driver, verify the installation through Steam’s installed-game properties, and close overlays or capture utilities. Confirm that Windows reports a 64-bit installation and that the selected GPU is the adapter you checked rather than an unsupported integrated adapter. If the problem persists, note the exact error and hardware model when contacting the developer; do not infer a performance failure from a startup fault.
Combat feels uneven
Replay a consistent arena sequence while changing only one available graphics or synchronization option at a time. Check background CPU and memory use, and test both controller and mouse input if the delay seems limited to one device. A stable, lower workload is preferable to an unstable high setting for timing-sensitive attacks and dashes.
What to expect from the full game
The full game is planned for 2027. Andrew Teo’s April 16, 2027 completion estimate, reported on October 16, 2026, is a developer estimate rather than a firm release commitment. Requirements, graphics options, controller behavior, and handheld support can change during development, so the demo’s current minimum block should not be treated as the final game’s specification.
