Shadow Director is a free browser football game built around the sporting director’s job: handling club decisions and relationships rather than directing match tactics. Its developer, QuilleTech, says it runs without a download or account and includes four divisions and 80 clubs. Those details come from the developer’s announcement, not independent testing.
What you do in Shadow Director
Instead of setting up each match, you respond to the kinds of requests and pressures that shape a club away from the pitch. QuilleTech describes scenarios involving a chairman freezing the budget, a coach asking for a striker, or a journalist asking whether a star player is for sale. The game also puts staff and the academy under your remit.
The premise is progression through the club’s leadership: you start as an assistant director and can advance toward chairman. The developer’s summary is direct: “There are no match-by-match tactics: it’s all about decisions and their consequences.” QuilleTech’s announcement frames the experience as a sequence of decisions involving the chairman, coach, press, and club operations.
Scope and language options
QuilleTech reports that Shadow Director contains four divisions and 80 clubs, and is available in English and French. These are developer-reported figures; the announcement does not give further details about the clubs or league structure.

Access and saves
The game is described as free to play in a browser, with no download or account required to start. The developer says saves are stored locally in the browser, with optional cloud saving through a Google account using Supabase. Save behavior and device or browser compatibility have not been independently verified.
What is and is not established
QuilleTech introduced the project in a DEV Community post published October 6, 2026, described it as an early project, and invited feedback on what feels missing or boring and what might encourage players to continue for another season. The announcement does not provide independent reviews, measured play-test results, performance data, or a detailed compatibility list. For those reasons, the most reliable way to understand its current features is to treat the post as the developer’s description rather than a tested review.
