Build a functional Seven Knights Re:BIRTH party by covering the encounter’s needs rather than chasing one universal “best team.” Start with a durable front line, protect your damage dealers in the back, add support when the fight demands recovery or utility, and then tune formation, skill order, pets, and equipment for the activity. GameWith’s party and formation pages, both marked updated October 11, 2026, provide useful third-party guidance; the exact lineup still depends on your roster and the mode.
What team building includes in Seven Knights Re:BIRTH
A party is not just a list of heroes. The setup described by GameWith includes heroes, pets, a formation, a skill queue, and equipment. Those pieces work together: a formation determines who stands in front and which stat bonuses apply, roles determine who absorbs damage or supplies it, the queue determines how the opening turns unfold, and pets and equipment reinforce the plan.
Build from the units you actually own. A theoretically strong damage dealer does little if it dies before using a skill, while a lower-damage unit can be the correct choice when it supplies healing, control, or the immunity an encounter requires. Treat the general role template as a starting point, then let the dungeon, boss mechanics, and your roster override it.

- Story progression: You need enough durability to survive unfamiliar waves while retaining area damage for efficient clears.
- Adventure farming: Consistent wide-area damage and a stable opening sequence usually matter more than a slow, single-target setup.
- Bosses and raids: Concentrated single-target damage, survival tools, and any required debuff or immunity take priority over fast wave clearing.
- Status-heavy stages: A hero, pet, or equipment choice that answers burn, freeze, stun, shock, or another stated condition can be more valuable than a generic damage upgrade.
The area-versus-single-target distinction comes from an informal player beginner guide, so treat it as community advice rather than an official balance rule. It is nevertheless a useful way to decide what your damage slots are supposed to accomplish.

Role coverage: the practical starting framework
GameWith’s general party guide recommends beginning with one Defense hero and one Support hero, then filling the remaining positions according to your available units and the dungeon. Its role-count table allows zero to three Attack, Magic, or Universal heroes, and one each of Defense and Support. Those are recommendations, not hard restrictions imposed by the game.

Why a tank creates damage capacity
A Defense hero does more than add a health bar. Front-row pressure is expected, and a durable unit can keep fragile Attack and Magic heroes alive long enough to use their skills. If the tank is repeatedly defeated before the back row contributes, the issue may be formation, equipment, or skill timing rather than a lack of damage.
What Support contributes
Support heroes trade some attack for utility. Their value can be healing, protection, cleansing, control, or another effect that keeps the party operating. A Support hero can stand in front when its durability helps spread danger, or in back when preserving it is more important. Do not force every Support unit into the same row.

After one Defense and one Support slot are covered, use the remaining positions to answer the activity. A farming party may need several area-damage options; a boss party may prefer one or two durable damage dealers with stronger single-target output; a status-immunity stage may require a less obvious role mix. The role labels explain a unit’s baseline, not the complete party plan.
How to build a party step by step
- Read the activity’s win condition. Decide whether you are clearing waves, defeating one boss, surviving a timer, or answering a status or damage requirement.
- Select your anchor. Start with the Defense hero that can withstand the stage. If no single unit is reliable, plan a more protective formation instead of pretending the weakest tank is sufficient.
- Add utility. Choose a Support hero when recovery, protection, control, or cleansing is needed. If the stage is straightforward and your roster is already durable, a damage-focused alternative may be reasonable.
- Assign damage jobs. Pick Attack or Magic units for the damage type and target pattern you need. Use Universal heroes to fill a mixed role or cover a weakness.
- Pick the formation before final positioning. The formation changes row capacity and stat bonuses, so a lineup that looks good on paper can become fragile when its preferred slots do not match the chosen pattern.
- Place heroes by risk. Put most Attack and Magic heroes in the back. Put Defense heroes in front. Place Support and Universal heroes according to their toughness, skill range, and the threats in the stage.
- Queue the opening skills. Select up to three skills in an order that either stabilizes the fight or accelerates the clear.
- Finish with pets and equipment. Reinforce the party’s main job, then test the result in the actual activity rather than judging it from the roster screen.
Formations: unlock, rows, and level-20 bonuses
GameWith’s formation guide says formations unlock after clearing Adventure 1-10. Each one changes the front/back arrangement and its stat bonuses. Front-row heroes are more likely to be attacked, so the row pattern is a survival decision as well as a damage decision.
The following values are the level-20 figures published by that third-party guide. They are not a fresh in-game measurement; check the live formation screen if a balance update changes them.

Basic versus Balanced
Basic is a forgiving starting point for a limited roster: two front-row positions can absorb danger while three back-row positions support multiple attackers. Balanced gives you three front-row positions and only two back-row positions, which can help when more units need protection but your damage can be concentrated into two heroes.
When Attack is appropriate
Attack places one hero in front and four in back. The single front slot receives the large 26% Defense bonus, but that hero also carries most of the incoming pressure. Use it only when your defender can survive the stage or when the encounter rewards a fast, damage-heavy clear.
When Defense is appropriate
Defense spreads four heroes across the front row and gives the lone back-row hero a 26% Attack bonus. This is a natural choice when one carry can do the damage while the rest of the party protects it. It can also suit an area-damage farmer whose job is to clear waves from the back.
Positioning heroes inside the formation
Start with the simplest placement rule: Attack and Magic types generally belong in the back, while Defense types generally belong in front. That keeps lower-HP damage dealers away from the row that is more likely to be attacked.
- Defense: Use the front row whenever possible, especially if the formation’s Defense bonus is concentrated there.
- Attack and Magic: Prefer the back row. Choose between them based on the encounter’s damage needs and your available skills.
- Support: Front-row placement can work when the Support hero is durable and needs to share pressure; back-row placement can preserve a fragile utility unit.
- Universal: Place the hero where its balanced statistics solve the current weakness. It may substitute for a front-line body or add damage behind one.
Do not treat the back row as invulnerable. A formation bonus does not replace a tank, and an enemy that reaches or targets the back row can still remove a damage dealer. If the same unit dies repeatedly, move it, change the formation, or replace it with a sturdier option before simply adding more attack.

The party guide says you can queue up to three skills in advance. That queue is a small encounter plan. An opening defensive or status skill can prevent the first dangerous attack, while a wide-area damage skill can remove a group of enemies before they create pressure.

Use control when the first seconds are dangerous
If a stage begins with enemies that can overwhelm the front row, queue a defensive effect or a status such as Stun or Freeze first. The goal is to buy time for the tank and Support hero, not to use control automatically in every battle.
Use area damage for grouped waves
When several enemies arrive together, a wide-area skill can produce a better opening than a single-target attack. Place it early when reducing the number of active enemies improves survival or clears the wave efficiently.
Test rather than copy a fixed sequence
A queue that works in one dungeon may waste a cooldown in another. Change the order when a boss is immune, when a status lands too late, or when your damage dealer dies before the queued skill fires. Review the first few turns and adjust one slot at a time so you know which change helped.

Pets and equipment are part of party setup, not a separate chore. GameWith’s party guidance suggests prioritising higher-rarity pets early, then selecting effects that fit the dungeon: Physical Attack, Magic Attack, All Attack, Defense, or Critical Rate are examples it names.
Pet priorities
- Use a higher-rarity pet when its effect supports the party and the alternative offers no better encounter-specific utility.
- Choose Physical or Magic Attack when one damage type is carrying the clear.
- Choose All Attack when the party mixes damage types or the stage rewards broad output.
- Choose Defense when the front line is the failure point.
- Choose Critical Rate when your build and skills can convert the extra rate into meaningful damage.
These are third-party recommendations, so compare the actual pet effects available on your account. A lower-rarity effect that solves a status or survival problem can be more useful than a higher-rarity effect aimed at damage you cannot keep alive.
Equipment priorities by job
The same guide recommends higher-rank equipment as a broad early priority. After rank, match the statistics to the job: offensive and critical stats generally suit Attack and Magic heroes, while HP, Defense, or Block generally suit Defense and Support heroes.

Do not equip every item by rarity alone. A high-rank offensive piece on a tank may fail to solve the real problem, and a defensive piece on a back-row carry may slow a farm without preventing its death. Upgrade the slot that is causing the defeat: survivability for a collapsing front line, damage for a timer, or the relevant stat for a required effect.
Adapting the lineup to common activities
Adventure and farming
Begin with Basic or Balanced when your roster is small. Keep at least one reliable front-line hero and use enough area damage to remove ordinary waves efficiently. If the clear is safe but slow, replace one defensive excess with another damage dealer. If the party dies between waves, return to a broader front-row pattern or queue an early defensive skill.
Bosses and raids
Do not carry a wave-farming lineup into a boss simply because it is your fastest Adventure team. Reconsider the target pattern, keeping the damage slots that can contribute against one target and adding the support or defensive utility needed to survive the boss’s opening. A single strong carry can make the Defense formation attractive, but only if the front four can protect it.
Status-immunity encounters
Some encounters call for protection against burn, freeze, stun, or shock. GameWith’s examples include parties built around those immunities. In such a stage, the immunity requirement outranks the generic one-Defense/one-Support template. Rebuild the queue and pet choices as well; preventing the disabling effect can be worth more than a modest attack increase.
Abyssal Conquest
Netmarble’s official update notice, published September 2, 2026 and updated September 16, says Abyssal Conquest unlocks after Adventure (Normal) 12-10. Its team formation permits up to 15 Heroes and 3 Pets. That rule is specific to Abyssal Conquest and should not be confused with the ordinary five-hero examples used in general formation guides.

Because the mode has its own formation screen and a rotating boss schedule, check the live in-game notice for the current boss and operational details. Do not assume that a five-hero farming team or a general formation recommendation is the complete answer for this mode.

Diagnosing a team that is not working
The tank dies before skills resolve
- Move the tank into the front position that receives the formation’s Defense bonus.
- Try Basic or Balanced if a one-front Attack formation concentrates too much pressure.
- Replace an offensive pet or equipment piece with Defense, HP, or Block support.
- Queue a defensive or control skill before your damage skill.
The party survives but cannot clear
- Check whether the stage contains waves that reward area damage.
- Move a suitable Attack or Magic hero to the back row and give the carry the formation’s offensive bonus.
- Use offensive or critical equipment on the actual damage dealer rather than spreading upgrades across the roster.
- Try the Attack formation only when the front-line hero can withstand the additional pressure.
The boss outlasts the timer
- Replace wave-clearing skills with the strongest single-target options available.
- Remove redundant defensive slots only after confirming the party can survive the opening.
- Choose Physical Attack, Magic Attack, All Attack, or Critical Rate pet effects that match the damage source.
- Reorder the three-skill queue so damage is not delayed by a control effect the boss ignores.
A status effect ends every attempt
Identify the exact effect, then use the immunity or cleansing option available in your roster, pets, equipment, or skills. A role-perfect lineup that cannot act is less functional than a mixed team built to resist the stage’s defining mechanic.
A repeatable decision framework
- Ask what kills you: front-row damage, a status, a timer, or a surviving boss.
- Change one layer: formation first for positioning problems, role selection for coverage problems, queue for opening-turn problems, and pets or equipment for stat problems.
- Run the same encounter again: compare whether the failure moved from survival to damage or from damage to control.
- Keep the solution mode-specific: save a farming arrangement and a boss arrangement instead of weakening both by forcing one compromise team.
This process avoids the trap of asking for a single best party. The best arrangement is the one that covers the current encounter with the units, formation levels, pets, skills, and equipment your account can actually field.
