To connect Seedance MCP to Cursor, add the Seedance server to Cursor’s MCP configuration, choose hosted OAuth or an API token, then verify the tools and a completed generation separately. The documented hosted endpoint is https://seedance.mcp.acedata.cloud/mcp. A local stdio setup is also available, but it still sends generation requests to AceDataCloud.
Choose how Seedance will connect
The SeedanceMCP project documents three setup routes. The hosted endpoint runs the MCP server remotely; you can authenticate through hosted OAuth or supply a Bearer API token. Alternatively, you can run the MCP process locally with stdio and authenticate using a token. That local process still depends on the AceDataCloud API, so it is not an offline video-generation option. See the SeedanceMCP repository documentation for service details.
| Setup route | Where the MCP process runs | Authentication | What to consider |
|---|---|---|---|
| Hosted OAuth | Remote | Hosted sign-in; an AceDataCloud account is required | Use when you can complete the hosted sign-in flow in Cursor. |
| Hosted API token | Remote | Bearer token in the server configuration | Useful when you need a fixed credential; keep it out of committed files. |
| Local stdio | Your computer | ACEDATACLOUD_API_TOKEN environment variable |
The MCP process is local, but video generation still calls the external API. |
Pick one authentication route for the hosted server. The repository advises against combining hosted OAuth with a fixed Authorization header on the same server. Check current service documentation and displayed pricing before generating video: usage may be metered.
Where to put Cursor’s MCP configuration
Cursor supports project-level configuration in .cursor/mcp.json and user-wide configuration in ~/.cursor/mcp.json. Use the project file when the setup is for a particular project, or the user file for your own Cursor environment. Cursor can also install servers through its Marketplace; these instructions cover adding the documented custom Seedance server. See Cursor’s MCP documentation.

- POWERFUL SECURITY KEY: The Security Key C NFC is the essential physical passkey for protecting your digital life from phishing attacks. It ensures only you can access your accounts.
- WORKS WITH 1000+ ACCOUNTS: Compatible with Google, Microsoft, and Apple. A single Security Key C NFC secures 100 of your favorite accounts, including email, password managers, and more.
- FAST & CONVENIENT LOGIN: Plug in your Security Key C NFC via USB-C and tap it, or tap it against your phone (NFC) to authenticate. No batteries, no internet connection, and no extra fees required.
- TRUSTED PASSKEY TECHNOLOGY: Uses the latest passkey standards (FIDO2/WebAuthn & FIDO U2F) but does not support One-Time Passwords. For complex needs, check out the YubiKey 5 Series.
- BUILT TO LAST: Made from tough, waterproof, and crush-resistant materials. Manufactured in Sweden and programmed in the USA with the highest security standards.
If the chosen file already contains an mcpServers object, add the Seedance entry to it rather than replacing the existing configuration. The following examples show the relevant JSON shape.
Connect the hosted server with OAuth
For hosted OAuth, the SeedanceMCP repository’s Cursor example needs only the server URL. Add this entry to the existing mcpServers object:
{
"mcpServers": {
"seedance": {
"url": "https://seedance.mcp.acedata.cloud/mcp"
}
}
}
Save the file and complete the hosted sign-in flow when Cursor prompts you. This route requires an AceDataCloud account, according to the repository documentation.
Connect the hosted server with an API token
If you prefer a fixed credential, configure the hosted endpoint with a Bearer token. Cursor resolves environment variables in configuration values, including headers, so the example refers to an environment variable instead of embedding the secret:

Set ACEDATACLOUD_API_TOKEN in the environment available to Cursor, then restart or reload Cursor if it does not pick up the change. Do not put a real token in a project file that may be committed, or expose it in screenshots or logs. The Cursor MCP documentation describes environment-variable interpolation; the SeedanceMCP repository documents the Bearer-header format.
Run the local stdio package instead
Choose local stdio if you want Cursor to launch the MCP server process on your machine. The repository documents these setup commands:

Configure the local server in Cursor to launch
mcp-seedancethrough stdio, following the repository’s current Cursor example.
Because the local process still calls the AceDataCloud API, it needs network access and valid service credentials. Local execution changes where the MCP process runs; it does not make generation local or offline.
Check that the connection works—and that a generation completes
Connection checks and actual video generation answer different questions. A reachable endpoint or visible tool confirms neither account access nor successful output. The repository’s model-list tool is reference information; seeing it does not establish API access or account balance.

Confirm Cursor loads the Seedance MCP server and exposes its tools. If it does not, check that the JSON is valid, the entry is inside

If useful, check endpoint reachability, but treat a health response only as evidence that the endpoint can be reached—not that video generation is authorized or working.

Before submitting a real generation, review the service’s current documentation and displayed pricing because use may be metered.

Try the repository’s example prompt: “Generate a short video of clouds moving over a mountain, then retrieve the completed task and final video URL.” This is an example, not a guarantee of success or completion time.
