Samsung Galaxy Do Not Disturb can silence calls, alerts, and notifications while still letting selected people, apps, alarms, or other sounds through. You can switch it on manually, schedule recurring quiet periods, and separately control which notifications remain visible. The exact menu names and options depend on your Galaxy model, software version, and region.
Turn Do Not Disturb on or off
Samsung documents two routes. The quickest is through Quick settings; you can also switch it on in Settings. Labels and gestures may differ on your device.
- From Quick settings: Swipe down from the top of the screen with two fingers, then touch and hold the Do Not Disturb icon. On the Do Not Disturb screen, use the switch.
- From Settings: On Samsung’s Hong Kong support instructions, the path is Settings > Notifications > Do not disturb; use the switch on that screen.
These are documented routes, not universal menu paths. If the labels differ, look for Do Not Disturb in your phone’s Settings or Quick settings.

Schedule quiet hours
A schedule turns Do Not Disturb on automatically at recurring times. Samsung’s US instructions support multiple schedules, so you can set up separate quiet periods.
- Open Quick settings and touch and hold the Do Not Disturb icon to open its settings.
- Tap Add schedule. On some devices, the control may instead be called Turn on as scheduled; tap it, then choose Add.
- Enter a schedule name and choose the preferences offered on your device.
- Save the schedule and check that its switch is enabled.
Samsung US documents these schedule controls, but the wording and available options can vary by device and software.

Choose who and what can interrupt you
Do Not Disturb does not have to silence every interruption. Samsung groups its US exception settings into Calls and messages, App notifications, and Alarms and sounds. Open Do Not Disturb settings and review each category to choose what is allowed.
Allow calls or messages from selected people
If you are waiting for an important call, check the Calls and messages exceptions rather than assuming every call will be silenced. Depending on the device, you may be able to allow calls from favorite contacts or permit repeat callers. Samsung Germany also describes choosing contacts and allowing repeat callers, while noting that options vary.

Do not assume that every messaging app or carrier handles exceptions the same way. The available controls depend on the phone and its configuration.
Allow selected apps
Use App notifications to select apps whose notifications can get through. This is useful when you want to silence most alerts but keep notifications from a particular app. Which apps and notification behaviors can be managed may differ across devices.

Keep alarms or other sounds
In Alarms and sounds, review whether alarms, media, touch sounds, calendar events, or reminders should remain allowed. Options vary; choose the sounds you want to hear rather than relying on a single default behavior.
Samsung US support documents calls and messages, app notifications, and alarms and sounds; Samsung Germany support gives contact, repeat-caller, app, and sound examples. The German guide was last updated September 22, 2026, and illustrates a Galaxy S26+ running Android 16 and One UI 8.5; its menus are not a template for every Galaxy phone.

Hide notification visuals separately from sound
Silencing a notification and hiding it on screen are separate choices. Samsung’s US guide lists controls for hiding non-exempt notifications, full-screen notifications, app icon badges, notification-panel entries, pop-up notifications, and status-bar icons. Use the visual options if you want fewer on-screen interruptions while keeping allowed sounds or other exceptions. Samsung says critical notifications about phone activity or status will not be hidden.

Why your Samsung menus may differ
Do Not Disturb is a built-in feature, but its path, names, and options are not identical across all Galaxy phones. Samsung’s Hong Kong support page explicitly limits its instructions to products sold in Hong Kong and warns that models, steps, and settings can vary by location and purchase region. Samsung’s German example uses a Galaxy S26+ with Android 16 and One UI 8.5, and Samsung likewise notes that examples can vary by device, installed software, and region.
