What age is Sesame Street: Friends & Fun for?
The publisher’s intended audience
Outright Games’ June 12, 2026 announcement calls Sesame Street: Friends & Fun a story-driven, exploration-led experience “designed for preschoolers.” That wording is the clearest statement of the intended audience. It tells parents how the publisher positioned the game, not how a child-development specialist has tested it. Use the preschool description as a starting point rather than a hard cutoff. A younger child may need an adult to read prompts, explain objectives, or handle navigation. An older child may enjoy the characters and cooperative activities even if the marketing is aimed at preschoolers. The practical question is whether the game’s controls, pace, and amount of assistance fit your child.
What the ESRB rating means
The U.S. ESRB record rates the game E for Everyone and lists no content descriptors. The rating record describes helping the Sesame Street community prepare for a big party through minigames and puzzles. In the ESRB’s own terms, “Sesame Street: Friends & Fun is rated E for Everyone by the ESRB.”

- Check motor skills: Can the child move a character and select an item with the controller or keyboard used by your household?
- Check tolerance for repetition: The game is built around several quests and minigames, so a child who prefers fast action may need an adult to keep the activity moving.
- Check social readiness: Local co-op can be collaborative, but a two-player session still requires turn-taking and agreement about who controls what.
- Start together: A first session with an adult is the most reliable way to judge whether the child can continue alone.
What children do in the game
The official descriptions present a connected neighborhood adventure rather than a collection of unrelated arcade games. The central objective is to help residents prepare for a large block party. Activities are introduced through Sesame Street characters and locations, giving children a reason to move between tasks.

Exploration can be a strength for children who like discovering places and characters. It can also create the main source of assistance a preschooler may need: remembering where to go next. If your child becomes frustrated after losing track of an objective, sit beside them and have them describe the last instruction before you take over navigation.
Number and puzzle activities
Count von Count’s Mansion is identified as a location for number and puzzle activities. The listing does not provide a curriculum, lesson sequence, difficulty scale, or independent assessment of learning. Parents can accurately describe these as game activities involving numbers and puzzles; it would be an overstatement to promise a measurable educational result.

Customize a home and unlock content
The PlayStation description says players can decorate a home and unlock minigames and areas. Customization gives a child a non-competitive objective after completing a task. Unlocking areas can also provide a sense of progression, although the listings do not state how long the campaign lasts, how many areas exist, or whether all content is available immediately.
Care for Tango
Caring for Tango is another named activity. The listing does not specify a schedule, resource system, or consequence for missing a care task, so parents should not assume it behaves like a real-time pet simulator. It is best understood as one of the game’s character-care interactions.

Prepare for the block party

Is the game safe for children?

Is it educational?
