Yes— the Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless is a strong buy when long battery life, comfortable over-ear listening and flexible Bluetooth codecs matter more than having the very strongest noise cancellation. It combines hybrid adaptive ANC, 42 mm dynamic drivers, Bluetooth 5.2 and a Sennheiser-rated 60-hour playback claim under specific test conditions.
Before ordering, verify the exact MOMENTUM 4 Wireless model, color and seller; check fit and the 293 g weight; confirm your phone or laptop can use the codec you want; inspect the regional box contents; and read the warranty and return terms. Sony noise-cancelling alternatives may block more noise and add LDAC, so those two priorities deserve a direct comparison.
What the MOMENTUM 4 Wireless is
The MOMENTUM 4 Wireless is a circumaural (around-ear) Bluetooth headphone. Its earcups surround the ears rather than resting on them, while hybrid adaptive active noise cancellation (ANC) uses microphones and signal processing to reduce outside sound. Sennheiser pairs that system with 42 mm dynamic transducers, sound personalization and a five-band equalizer.

The supported Bluetooth audio codecs are SBC, AAC, aptX and aptX Adaptive. Codec support on the headphone does not guarantee that codec will be used: the source phone, tablet or computer and its operating system negotiate the connection, and a device can fall back to AAC or SBC.

Battery life: how to interpret the 60-hour claim
Sennheiser’s current specification page rates the headphone for up to 60 hours of Bluetooth music playback with ANC. The stated test uses an iPhone at mid volume, so the number is a repeatable reference point rather than a guarantee for every listener. Maximum volume, frequent calls, different codecs, temperature and other active features can change runtime.
The 700 mAh lithium-ion battery takes about two hours to charge fully. A five-minute top-up is specified to provide up to four hours of playback, which is useful when you discover an empty battery shortly before leaving. Charging can take longer when the ambient temperature is above 30°C; avoid judging the battery or charger by a single hot-weather session.
Do these 3 things before closing this tab:
1Scan for outdated or missing drivers - takes under a minute2Repair Windows errors before they cause bigger problems3Fix the driver behind crashes, sound loss and screen glitchesWhen comparing listings, distinguish a battery figure from a charging figure. “60 hours” describes playback, not time connected to a charger. Confirm that the listing refers to the MOMENTUM 4 Wireless rather than an earlier generation or an accessory, and check whether a seller has changed the included cable or regional packaging.
Bluetooth, aptX Adaptive and wired listening
Codec compatibility is a two-device decision
The headphone can decode SBC, AAC, aptX and aptX Adaptive, but the source must offer the matching option. A phone that lacks aptX Adaptive will normally negotiate another supported codec. Laptops can behave differently from phones because operating-system support and Bluetooth drivers affect the available choices.
Check the specifications and Bluetooth settings for the exact phone, tablet or computer you plan to use. If a device exposes only AAC or SBC, buying the headphone for aptX Adaptive will not change that source’s capability. If several devices will be used, evaluate each one instead of assuming that support on one phone carries over to a work laptop.
USB-C and analog connections
Sennheiser lists USB-C wired Hi-Res capability and supplies an analog audio cable. USB-C wired operation is relevant to computers and compatible mobile devices; analog is useful with an airplane entertainment adapter or a source that has a conventional headphone output. Wired playback also provides a way to continue listening if the battery is depleted, although the available functions depend on the connection and source.

ANC and sound: decide which trade-off you prefer
Hybrid adaptive ANC is intended to adjust noise reduction as surroundings change. A good ear seal remains important: gaps around the pads can let voices and high-frequency sounds through, while glasses, hair and head shape can alter the seal. Test the fit with the ANC enabled and disabled, because comfort and perceived isolation are related but not identical.

- Firmware and software updated: Enjoy a smoother, and more reliable user experience, incl. an ANC off switch in the Smart Control Plus app, and a persistent off-switch for the touchpad.
- Maximum audio resolution with Sennheiser Signature Sound: Enjoy premium music quality all-day long thanks to the headphone's audiophile-inspired 42mm transducer system and aptX Adaptive.
- Personalized sound via the Sennheiser Smart Control App: Adjust the sound to your individual listening preferences via the integrated equalizer, presets and sound modes - for a unique sound experience.
- Stay immersed in your music: Thanks to the headphone's Adaptive Noise Cancellation, you stay distraction-free - and with the Adjustable Transparency Mode you stay in touch with the world around you.
- Exceptional comfort and long battery life: Lightweight, foldable design with padded headband and deeply cushioned ear pads for long-lasting comfort - up to 60 hours of playback time with fast charging.
The built-in sound-personalization feature and five-band EQ let you tune the presentation rather than accepting a fixed sound profile. That flexibility is useful if you switch between speech, music and travel listening, but personalization cannot compensate for an uncomfortable clamp or an ill-fitting earcup.
Independent comparison evidence from RTINGS reports that Sony alternatives can provide stronger noise blocking and LDAC support. That does not make the MOMENTUM 4 Wireless a poor ANC headphone; it identifies the decision boundary. If your main environment is an aircraft, train or another low-frequency-heavy setting, compare measured isolation and transparency behavior directly. If codec choice is central, check whether LDAC on a competing model matters more to you than aptX Adaptive on this one.
Fit, weight and everyday comfort
Tom’s Guide lists the headphone at 293 g. That is a meaningful consideration for long sessions, even though comfort depends on head shape, clamp force, headband padding and the glasses you wear. A comfortable fit for one person may create pressure or fatigue for another.

Random freezes, missing sound and display glitches usually trace back to one bad driver. Find and replace yours safely.Free scan · under a minuteBecause the design is around-ear, confirm that the earcups can surround your ears without touching the outer ear. Check the seller’s return window before opening the package, especially if you are sensitive to headband pressure or weight. A return policy is more useful than relying on another buyer’s comfort report because fit is highly individual.
The supplied carry case helps protect the headphone in a bag, while the charging and audio cables reduce the need to pack extras. Those advantages matter for travel, but they do not remove the need to verify that the exact regional bundle contains the case and both cables.
What should be in the box
The official package is listed as containing:
- MOMENTUM 4 Wireless headphones
- Carry case
- USB-C charging cable
- Audio cable
- Airplane adapter
Bundles can vary by seller and region. Before paying, expand the listing’s “what’s included” section and compare it with this list. A marketplace listing may combine a headphone with third-party accessories, use a stock photograph or describe a renewed unit as if it were new. Save a copy of the listing and photograph the package contents if the shipment differs from what was advertised.
Step-by-step checks before you order
- Confirm the product name. The listing should say “Sennheiser MOMENTUM 4 Wireless.” Do not substitute a MOMENTUM 3, a replacement part, an ear-pad set or a similarly named product.
- Match the color and SKU. If you want a particular finish, verify that the selected variant, title and checkout line all show the same color or stock-keeping unit.
- Check condition. Look for “new,” “renewed” or “refurbished.” Condition affects packaging, battery history, warranty and return rights.
- Verify the seller. Check the seller identity, authorization information where provided, delivery location and who will handle warranty claims.
- Read the warranty. Confirm the coverage period, region and whether the warranty is supplied by Sennheiser or the retailer. A low price is less attractive if support is unavailable in your country.
- Read the return window. Make sure you can test the fit and ANC without losing the right to return the unit. Note restocking fees, opened-box exclusions and the return-shipping responsibility.
- Check the package list. Confirm the case, USB-C charging cable, audio cable and airplane adapter are included in that specific regional listing.
- Check your source devices. Identify the phone, tablet and computer you will use, then confirm their Bluetooth codec support. Do not assume aptX Adaptive is available simply because the headphone supports it.
- Check the physical use case. Consider the 293 g weight, around-ear fit, glasses, headband pressure and how long you typically listen. Keep the return policy available if comfort is uncertain.
- Compare the priorities that matter. Put ANC strength, codec support, battery, wired connections, personalization, microphone needs and price in order. Compare competing models on those same axes rather than on a single headline specification.
- Record the checkout total. Include shipping, taxes, currency conversion and any optional protection plan. Keep the invoice and the listing’s promised contents.
Price and timing
Prices change by country, color, seller and promotion. TechRadar reported an Amazon US price of $179.95 for selected colors on June 25, 2026. That is historical promotion context, not a current price promise. At checkout, verify the live amount, delivery date, taxes, warranty provider and return terms.
A lower price can reflect a clearance color, an open-box unit, a refurbished item or a seller with different support. Compare the complete purchase conditions rather than using the headphone’s list price or an old deal headline as the deciding number.

How it compares with Sony noise-cancelling alternatives
The most relevant comparison is not a brand-wide winner; it is whether your priorities favor the MOMENTUM 4 Wireless or a specific competing model. RTINGS’ independent comparison evidence identifies two Sony advantages that may matter: stronger noise blocking and LDAC support. The MOMENTUM 4 Wireless counters with aptX Adaptive support, its stated long battery rating, wired USB-C and analog options, and sound personalization.
| Decision factor | MOMENTUM 4 Wireless | What to verify in a competing Sony model |
|---|---|---|
| Noise blocking | Hybrid adaptive ANC | RTINGS reports Sony alternatives may block more noise; check the exact model’s isolation results |
| High-quality Bluetooth codec | aptX and aptX Adaptive, plus SBC and AAC | Whether the model supports LDAC and whether your source device can use it |
| Battery reference | Up to 60 hours with ANC in Sennheiser’s iPhone, mid-volume test | Use the competing model’s stated test conditions, not just its headline number |
| Wired listening | USB-C wired Hi-Res and supplied analog cable | Whether both USB-C and analog operation are supported and what accessories are included |
| Personalization | Sound personalization and five-band EQ | Available app controls and equalizer functions on the exact model |
| Comfort | 293 g listed weight and circumaural design | Weight, clamp, earcup dimensions and return terms for the exact model |
Use the same source phone, travel environment and comfort requirements when comparing. A model that blocks more engine rumble may still be the wrong choice if its codec is unavailable on your phone or its fit causes pressure after an hour.
Common ordering mistakes and fixes
Buying the wrong generation or an accessory
Marketplace search results can mix headphones, cases, cables and older generations. Fix this by checking the full product name, photographs of the earcups and the model identifier in the specifications, not only the search result headline.
Assuming aptX Adaptive will be active
Codec negotiation is controlled by the source and headphone together. If the source offers only AAC or SBC, those are the practical choices. Check the exact operating system and Bluetooth settings before paying for a feature your primary device cannot use.
Treating the battery rating as a guarantee
The rated runtime comes from a stated iPhone, mid-volume test. High volume, calls, different settings and hot conditions can reduce runtime, while charging above 30°C can take longer. Plan a charge before travel rather than relying on the maximum figure.
Skipping the return-policy check
Weight and seal are personal. If the seller excludes opened headphones from returns or charges a restocking fee, you carry more risk when comfort is uncertain. Resolve those terms before opening the package.
Comparing only promotional prices
A historical deal may no longer apply, may cover only selected colors or may exclude shipping and taxes. Compare the delivered total and support terms at checkout.

Who should buy the MOMENTUM 4 Wireless?
- Buy it if you want a circumaural headphone with a very long stated ANC playback rating, aptX Adaptive support, USB-C and analog wired options, and adjustable sound personalization.
- Buy it if your phone or computer supports the codec you care about and the seller offers a practical fit-testing return window.
- Consider another model first if maximum noise blocking is your top priority, LDAC is required by your source-device setup, or you already know that a roughly 293 g headphone causes discomfort.
- Delay the order if the listing does not clearly identify the model, condition, seller, warranty, return terms or included accessories.
Final pre-check
Before clicking “buy,” make sure the listing is the MOMENTUM 4 Wireless, the color and condition are correct, the seller and warranty are acceptable, the return window covers a comfort test, and the box contents match the official list. Confirm that your devices can use the desired codec, then compare ANC and LDAC priorities with the exact alternatives you are considering. Those checks tell you more about whether it is worth buying than a headline discount alone.
