The Sennheiser ACCENTUM Clip is rated for long listening sessions, splash resistance on the earbuds, tap controls on either side, two-device Multipoint, and independent single-earbud use. The important qualifications are that battery figures are manufacturer ratings under a specified test setup, IP54 does not mean waterproof, and the exact tap-gesture assignments should be checked in the current manual or Smart Control Plus app.

How long does the Sennheiser ACCENTUM Clip battery last?
Sennheiser’s published endurance is shown in the table above. Treat it as a laboratory-style manufacturer rating rather than an independently measured guarantee. The stated test uses an iPhone, the AAC codec and medium volume, so a different phone, louder listening level or different workload may produce a shorter result.

Understanding the per-charge figure
The per-earbud rating describes continuous music playback before that earbud needs to return to the case. It is the useful number for a long flight, workday or workout when you intend to wear both earbuds continuously. Calls and other non-music use can have a different consumption pattern, so do not plan a critical call around the maximum music figure alone.
Understanding the case figure
The case-runtime figure adds the recharges supplied by the case. It is not a single uninterrupted listening session: you periodically place the earbuds in the case, then use them again. If the case itself is empty, the earbuds cannot receive those additional cycles until the case is connected to USB-C power.
Quick charging and charging time
Sennheiser also specifies a short-charge function that delivers the playback time listed in the table after 10 minutes connected to power. That is useful when you discover a low battery just before leaving, but it should be treated as an emergency top-up, not a replacement for charging the case regularly.

The company lists approximately one hour for a full charge of the earbuds and approximately one hour for a full charge of the case. Charging speed can vary with the charger, cable, temperature and the remaining battery level. Keep the USB-C port and cable dry before connecting them.
How to get closer to the rating
- Use moderate volume when possible; high output levels generally reduce playback time.
- Keep the earbuds and case within normal operating temperatures rather than leaving them in a hot car or freezing bag.
- Charge the case before travel instead of relying only on the earbuds’ remaining percentage.
- Check the current battery readings in the phone’s Bluetooth panel or Smart Control Plus rather than estimating from elapsed time.
Is the ACCENTUM Clip waterproof?
No. The earbuds are rated IP54, which indicates protection against dust ingress at the stated level and splashing water. It is suitable for ordinary sweat and light rain when the earbuds are being used as intended, but it is not a waterproof or submersion rating.
Situations the earbuds are intended to handle
- Light rain during a normal walk.
- Sweat from a workout, provided the earbuds are wiped and dried afterward.
- Everyday splashes that do not involve sustained water pressure.
Situations to avoid
- Do not submerge the earbuds in a pool, bath or sink.
- Do not wear them in the shower.
- Do not rinse them under a running tap.
- Do not charge the earbuds or case while either is wet.
The charging case has not been tested for dust or water resistance. That distinction matters: even if the earbuds survive a damp workout, putting them straight into a damp case can leave moisture trapped around the charging contacts and case electronics.

Safe cleanup after rain or exercise
- Remove the earbuds and turn them off or place them somewhere dry.
- Wipe the outside with a soft, dry, lint-free cloth.
- Leave the earbuds exposed to air until they are completely dry, including around the charging contacts.
- Only then return them to the case or connect the case to USB-C power.
Do not use a hair dryer, heater or compressed air to force-dry them. Excess heat or pressure can push moisture farther into the assembly.

Sennheiser’s retail description confirms that you can tap either side to control music and that each earbud works independently. The publicly stated product copy does not provide a complete, reliable gesture chart for play, pause, track changes, volume or calls.
Where to find the current gesture assignments
Open the current ACCENTUM Clip entry in the Smart Control Plus app and consult its control or instruction section. Also check the latest official instruction manual for your firmware and regional edition. App labels and available assignments can change after firmware updates, so a gesture list copied from an older review may not match your pair.

Practical control tips
- Tap the earbud surface deliberately rather than pressing it into your ear; a press can move the clip or create an unwanted fit change.
- If a tap is not recognized, pause and try again with a clean, dry surface.
- When one earbud is in the case, use the gesture assignments shown for the earbud you are wearing; do not assume every stereo shortcut is available in single-ear use.
- If controls stop responding, check Bluetooth status, reopen Smart Control Plus and look for a firmware or settings change before repeatedly tapping.

Yes. The earbuds can remember up to six paired Bluetooth devices and, when Multipoint is enabled, maintain connections with two of those devices at the same time. Remembered devices and simultaneous connections are different limits: storing six pairings does not mean six active audio links.

- Pair the earbuds with the first phone, tablet or computer through that device’s Bluetooth settings.
- Pair the earbuds with the second device. If the earbuds do not appear, temporarily disconnect them from the first device or use the pairing procedure in the current manual.
- Open Smart Control Plus and switch on the Multipoint option. The exact menu wording can vary with the app version.
- Reconnect both source devices and verify that each shows the earbuds as connected.
With two devices connected, the earbuds can remain available to both without requiring a complete re-pair each time. Which device supplies audio at a given moment depends on the source devices and their operating-system behavior; a paused stream on one device may need to be stopped fully before the other takes over.

If the second device will not connect
- Confirm Multipoint is enabled in Smart Control Plus rather than assuming that two saved pairings are active simultaneously.
- Disconnect an old device that may still be occupying one of the active connection slots.
- Remove stale pairings from the phone or computer, then pair again.
- Keep both devices nearby during setup and temporarily disable Bluetooth on unrelated devices.
- Restart the earbuds and source devices, then check the current app and manual instructions for your firmware version.
Can you use one ACCENTUM Clip earbud by itself?
Yes. Sennheiser states that each earbud works on its own, so you can use one while the other charges in the case. This is useful when you want to hear surrounding activity, reserve battery by alternating sides, or keep one ear free during a conversation.
A simple single-earbud routine
- Place the earbud you do not need into the case and close it so it can charge.
- Wear the other earbud and connect it to the source device.
- Use the control assignments shown for that earbud in Smart Control Plus or the current manual.
- Swap sides when needed, allowing the first earbud to recharge before using it again.
Single-ear use does not turn the product into a separate two-device system. The same Bluetooth pairing and Multipoint rules apply, and the available controls may differ from the stereo arrangement. If a control behaves differently after removing one side, check the current assignment screen instead of assuming the gesture failed.
What else should you know before buying?
Bluetooth and codec support
Bluetooth 6.0 is the listed wireless standard. The earbuds support SBC, AAC and LDAC, but the active codec is negotiated with the source device. A phone or computer may default to SBC or AAC even though LDAC is supported, and changing a device’s Bluetooth settings can affect stability, battery use or compatibility.
Driver and call features
Each earbud uses a 12 mm dynamic driver. Driver diameter is only one part of sound performance; fit, tuning, source quality and codec selection also matter. Sennheiser documents AI call-noise reduction, which is intended to help voice calls in noisy surroundings, but the feature should not be interpreted as a guarantee that every background sound will disappear.
Weight and portability
The listed weights make the earbuds relatively light to carry, while the case adds most of the travel bulk. The case’s USB-C charging connection means you can use a compatible USB-C power source, but inspect the port for moisture after outdoor use and never force a damp connector into it.
Best practices for reliable daily use
- Install Smart Control Plus before changing advanced settings so you can see the current firmware and control assignments.
- Keep the pairing list tidy. Removing devices you no longer use makes Multipoint troubleshooting easier and prevents accidental reconnections.
- Store the earbuds in the case when not wearing them; this protects the contacts and starts charging when the case has power.
- Keep the case away from sinks, gym-bag condensation and rain because it has no tested dust or water rating.
- Dry both earbuds completely after sweat or rain before closing the case.
- For important calls or travel, carry a charged USB-C power source and check the battery status before leaving.
Bottom line for the five common questions
The ACCENTUM Clip’s endurance, splash protection, controls, Multipoint and independent-earbud operation are all useful, but each has a boundary. Battery figures are rated under Sennheiser’s stated test conditions, IP54 is not immersion protection and does not cover the case, exact tap gestures must be verified in current documentation, Multipoint means two active connections rather than six, and single-ear use is supported by design. Those qualifications are the difference between using the earbuds confidently and exposing them to avoidable battery, moisture or pairing problems.
