To send a voice message on a Samsung phone, open Messages, start a conversation, then touch and hold the voice recording icon while you speak. Tap send when you finish. In Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold6 manual, the icon appears only when the message field is empty, so clear any typed text if you cannot see it. The exact controls can differ by phone model and app version.
Record and send a voice message in Messages
These steps follow Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold6 user manual. Treat the screen details as a documented example, not a guarantee that every Galaxy phone has an identical layout.
- Open Messages.
- Start a new conversation and add the recipient.
- Make sure the message input field is empty. The manual says the voice recording icon appears only while it is empty.
- Touch and hold the voice recording icon, then speak your message.
- Tap the send control when you are finished.
If the voice recording icon is missing
First check whether the message field contains typed text. On the Galaxy Z Fold6 flow documented in Samsung’s manual, the icon is shown only when that field is empty. If the field is already blank and you still cannot find the control, your phone model, software, or Messages app may use a different screen or feature. Samsung cautions that menu names, paths, and layouts can vary by device model, software version, and app version. Consult the manual or support information for your specific device rather than assuming the Z Fold6 interface applies.
Voice messages are different from Voice Recorder memos
A voice message is recorded in a Messages conversation and sent to its recipient. A saved recording made with Samsung’s Voice Recorder is an audio file that you can save, play, organize, or share separately. Samsung’s Voice Recorder guidance says that, on the configuration it documents, recordings are in My Files > Internal storage > Recordings > Voice Recorder. That folder path applies to saved Voice Recorder files; it does not establish where Messages voice messages are stored.
