The best place to sell a website template or UI kit depends on what you built: Framer and Webflow projects fit their own template ecosystems, UI8 focuses on design assets, and MUI Store is for React themes built with MUI. ThemeForest remains relevant for code and CMS themes, but Envato says new-author intake is paused as of September 3, 2026. These are distinct routes, not interchangeable options—and the seller terms and availability differ.

Choose a platform that fits your product

Start with the format and buyer workflow, not a headline commission rate. A native site-builder project, a CMS theme, a Figma UI kit, and a framework-specific React theme solve different problems and reach different audiences.

Platform Best fit How sellers enter Stated seller terms Distribution notes
Framer Templates made for Framer Creators publish to the Framer Community marketplace; the guide says templates are published immediately without review or a waiting period. Framer says creators keep 100% of paid-template sale revenue. Free templates can earn affiliate income when users sign up through the template. Framer says creators may also sell templates through other marketplaces and platforms.
Webflow Templates made for Webflow Submissions are reviewed; Webflow says review typically takes 3–5 days. The cited submission guidance does not state a seller-share percentage. Approved templates may also be sold externally through a platform or the creator’s own site; fulfillment links can deliver the product.
ThemeForest HTML templates and themes for CMS products such as WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal Envato’s author guide says applications and sign-ups for new authors are paused as of September 3, 2026. Any reopening is expected to be application-only for selected content types. The cited current sources do not establish a seller-share figure for this article. ThemeForest is relevant to this product category, but the paused intake makes it an unavailable new-author route at the time of the cited guide.
UI8 Design assets and UI kits Authors apply or are invited. UI8 says it considers quality, polish, usability, and value. UI8 states 70% on individual purchases and 2% of product value for each unique download. Automated PayPal payouts are monthly at month-end when the balance is at least $100. Check eligibility, payout availability, and current author terms before applying.
MUI Store React themes built for MUI Creators apply through MUI’s seller page. MUI states a 50% share for non-exclusive themes and 70% for exclusive themes. Choose it when your product is specifically for the MUI ecosystem; the cited page does not establish terms for other React frameworks.

The percentages above are each platform’s stated terms, not a like-for-like estimate of take-home income. The cited pages do not establish a common basis for transaction costs, taxes, or other deductions, so compare each platform’s current complete terms before pricing a product.

Sell platform-native website templates

Framer: fast publication and permission to sell elsewhere

Framer’s publishing guide describes direct publication to its Community marketplace without a review delay. It says creators keep all revenue from paid-template sales and may distribute templates elsewhere as well. That combination suits a creator who wants access to a platform-native audience without giving up other sales channels. Framer also describes affiliate income for free templates that lead users to sign up for Framer; that is a specific feature of its template ecosystem, not a general promise of recurring income.

Webflow: marketplace review and external fulfillment

Webflow’s submission process includes review, which the platform says typically takes 3–5 days. Once a template is approved, its creator may sell it outside Webflow, including through their own site, and use fulfillment links to deliver it. This makes Webflow a possible route for combining marketplace discovery with external distribution, provided the project meets its submission rules.

Sell code, CMS themes, and framework-specific products

ThemeForest: relevant catalog, paused new-author intake

ThemeForest is Envato Market’s destination for website themes and templates, including HTML work and themes for CMS products such as WordPress, Joomla, and Drupal. Its catalog relevance should not be confused with current access for new sellers: Envato’s author guide, updated September 3, 2026, says new-author applications and sign-ups are paused. It says any reopening will be application-only for selected content types. Check that guide for a status change before planning a launch around Envato.

MUI Store: for themes built around MUI

MUI Store is a narrower choice for creators building React themes specifically for MUI. MUI’s seller page invites applications and states different creator shares for exclusive and non-exclusive themes. The exclusivity condition matters: do not assume the higher stated percentage applies if you intend to offer the same theme elsewhere.

Sell design assets and UI kits

UI8 is the directly verified option here for design assets and UI kits. Its author process is application- or invitation-based, with stated review criteria covering quality, polish, usability, and value. The platform also describes two distinct earning mechanisms: a share of individual purchases and a smaller share tied to each unique download. Its payout statement specifies automated PayPal payments at month-end once an author’s balance reaches the stated minimum. Verify that PayPal payouts and the current terms are available for your country and account before relying on those conditions.

Check rights, review, and maintenance before submitting

A marketplace listing is only one part of a sellable template. Review the platform’s requirements and prepare documentation for every asset included in the package.

  • Document asset licenses. Webflow explicitly requires license information for custom assets, including fonts, images, and icons. Keep the relevant permissions clear for any marketplace submission or external sale.
  • Confirm the product’s compatibility. Label the required platform, CMS, framework, and any dependencies so buyers know what the template supports.
  • Plan for updates. Templates can need revisions as their target platform or framework changes. Decide how you will handle compatibility fixes and buyer support before accepting sales.
  • Read current payout and tax terms. Stated creator shares are not necessarily the same as net proceeds. Check payout methods, thresholds, country eligibility, payment processing, and tax obligations on the platform’s current seller pages.
  • Check exclusivity and external-sale rules. Framer allows external selling, Webflow permits external sales for approved templates, and MUI’s stated share varies by exclusivity. Do not infer the same distribution rights across platforms.

How to make the choice

  1. Match the product to the buyer’s environment. Choose Framer or Webflow for a project built natively for that platform, UI8 for a design kit, and MUI Store for a theme built for MUI. Consider ThemeForest for code or CMS themes only if its author intake is open to you.
  2. Confirm that you can actually submit. Identify whether the route is immediate publishing, review, invitation, application, or paused intake. A marketplace’s catalog does not mean it is accepting new sellers.
  3. Compare the full economics. Read the current share, payout schedule and threshold, payment method, and any other deductions or obligations. Do not compare percentages alone.
  4. Decide where else you want to sell. Check whether external distribution is permitted and how delivery works. Webflow documents fulfillment links for external sales, while Framer says creators can sell elsewhere.
  5. Prepare licensing and support details. Gather rights information for included assets and set expectations for compatibility updates and customer help.

Why this is not a verified list of 20+ platforms

The currently verified seller documentation supports a useful shortlist, not a reliable ranking of more than 20 open platforms. Generic storefront tools, design marketplaces, and platform-specific template libraries are different kinds of channels; naming them without checking current seller access, product fit, and terms would imply more than is established. The five options above therefore reflect verified, materially different routes rather than an unsubstantiated 20-platform count.
