Second Stone will get a playable PC demo on Steam on October 19, 2026, according to Gematsu. Developer Skyward Entertainment and publisher Headup have not announced a date for the full game. The demo is the first scheduled public hands-on opportunity for an action RPG built around two explorable realities, elemental gear, platforming and repeatable rogue-like dungeons.
When and where can you play the Second Stone demo?
The demo launches for PC through Steam on October 19, 2026. Steam is the only platform identified for the demo in the available announcement. The planned storefronts for the complete release are Steam, Epic Games Store and GOG, but a full-game launch date has not been announced.
Second Stone is described as a PC game with full controller support. Steam says the developers recommend playing with a controller, so players preparing for the demo should have a compatible gamepad available. No price, download size, demo duration or regional release time has been published.

What kind of game is Second Stone?
Second Stone is an action RPG starring Shiren, a young treasure hunter searching for his lost spirit guardian. Its central premise is a pair of fully playable parallel realities: the bright Light World and its dangerous mirror, the Shrouded World. The two settings are not simply visual variants. Moving between them changes the routes available for exploration and the situations encountered in combat.

The developers describe the game as a colorful action RPG focused on fast movement, platforming, real-time battles and environmental puzzles. A Gamescom preview also reported 3D platforming, two-world exploration, elemental combinations, rogue-like dungeons and a card game. Because these systems span several genres, the preview noted that their overall cohesion will become clearer in the finished release.
How the two worlds shape exploration and combat
Light World
The Light World is the more colorful of the two realities. It forms one side of the game’s interconnected overworld and provides routes, puzzles and encounters that can be approached differently when Shiren crosses into its counterpart.

Shrouded World
The Shrouded World is presented as a dangerous mirror. Its hazards and altered paths are intended to make switching realities part of normal navigation rather than a one-time story mechanic. A route blocked or unsafe in one world may become accessible, useful or strategically valuable in the other.

Fast traversal and platforming are core parts of the design. Shiren must negotiate three-dimensional spaces while using the relationship between the two worlds to solve environmental problems and reach new areas. The available descriptions do not specify a complete move list, difficulty options or accessibility settings, so those details should be checked in the demo itself when it releases.

Build customization: Manastones and the Astral Tablet
Second Stone’s combat progression combines equipment modification with a talent system.
Manastones
Players find elemental Manastones and attach them to weapons and gear. Different stones produce different effects, allowing equipment to be tuned for particular enemies, encounters or play styles. Extra Manastones can be fused to unlock additional effects, making collection and experimentation part of the progression loop.

Astral Tablet
The Astral Tablet is a talent tree that complements Manastone equipment. It adds permanent or longer-term character choices to the more modular process of changing stones and gear. In practice, players are expected to combine equipment effects with talent selections instead of treating the two systems as separate upgrade tracks.

Arimaya, quests and the wider game loop
Shiren’s journey includes an interconnected overworld and the village hub of Arimaya. The village is the place for upgrades and quests, giving the exploration loop a return point between expeditions. It also hosts Mana Clash, a dice-card minigame that provides an activity outside direct combat.
The structure suggested by the official descriptions is: travel through the overworld, switch between realities to solve obstacles or find routes, fight in real time, collect and modify Manastones, then return to Arimaya for progression and new objectives. The available information does not state whether progress carries equally between all activities or how many quests will be available in the demo.
Lost Labyrinths and repeatable rogue-like runs
Lost Labyrinths are procedural dungeons designed for repeatable rogue-like runs. Their layouts and challenges are generated rather than being a single fixed sequence, giving players a reason to revisit them after the story or overworld has been explored. Runs culminate in encounters with Depth Bosses, which provide a higher-stakes target within the procedural structure.
Procedural content can make each attempt feel different, but the long-term value depends on how much enemy, reward and build variation the system offers. No authoritative information currently states the number of labyrinth types, maximum depth, run length, co-op support or whether the demo includes Depth Boss encounters.

What to watch for when the demo arrives
- World switching: whether changing realities creates substantial route and puzzle differences or mainly changes enemy encounters.
- Movement feel: how precise the platforming is, especially during combat and vertical traversal.
- Build depth: how many Manastones can be equipped, what fusion requires and how the Astral Tablet changes a build.
- Dungeon variety: whether Lost Labyrinth runs produce meaningful differences and how frequently Depth Bosses appear.
- System balance: whether the village, card game, overworld, puzzles and rogue-like dungeons reinforce one another without overwhelming the main adventure.
Until the demo is available, those are design goals rather than verified performance or review results. The confirmed near-term event is the Steam demo release on October 19, 2026; details about final content, price, performance and the full launch remain pending.
