Seasons of Books and Keys is a mystery-focused narrative adventure adapted from Honobu Yonezawa’s novel The Season of Book and Key. It follows two high school library committee members as everyday requests lead them into investigations. A Nintendo Switch version was reported for worldwide digital release in Winter 2026, but no exact launch date or price has been established.
What is Seasons of Books and Keys about?
Developed by iMel Inc. and published by SHUEISHA GAMES, Seasons of Books and Keys puts players alongside Jiro Horikawa and Shimon Matsukura, two students on their high school library committee. According to the Steam listing, they investigate problems brought to the library, including an unopened safe, missing exam questions, and a student’s final book. The cases gradually bring personal secrets to light. Steam’s listing presents it as a story-led mystery rather than an action-focused game.
How does the game adapt the novel?
The game is based on Honobu Yonezawa’s novel The Season of Book and Key. The Steam listing says Yonezawa wrote an additional episode specifically for the game, so the adaptation includes story material beyond the novel. It also describes rich color illustrations and full voice acting.

When does it come out on Nintendo Switch?
Nintendo Insider reported on August 29, 2026, that a Nintendo Switch version is in development and planned for worldwide digital release through Nintendo eShop in Winter 2026. That is a reported seasonal window, not a confirmed launch date. The report does not establish an exact day or price, and an official eShop listing was not found. What languages and audio are listed?
The Steam store language table lists English, Simplified Chinese, Traditional Chinese, and Japanese for text, and Japanese for full audio. This is the information shown on the PC listing; it does not by itself confirm the language options for the Switch release or every region’s eShop version.
