Oracle has announced lower annual Java SE Universal Subscription pricing for organizations with fewer than 3,000 employees. The roundup title also names new OpenAI speed capabilities and a Functionalize MCP server, but their features and availability are not established by the available announcements, so no further details can be stated reliably.

Oracle lowers Java SE Universal Subscription prices for smaller organizations

Oracle announced on Oct. 8, 2026, that organizations with fewer than 3,000 employees can access simplified annual pricing and online purchasing for the Java SE Universal Subscription. The following are Oracle’s published annual prices in U.S. dollars, not an independent price comparison.

Organization size Annual price Purchase route
10 or fewer employees $100 Oracle Store
11–100 employees $1,000 Oracle Store
101–500 employees $10,000 Oracle Store
501–2,999 employees $10,000 for the first 500 employees, plus $147.20 per additional employee Contact Oracle Sales
3,000 or more employees Enterprise pricing remains unchanged Contact Oracle Sales

Oracle says organizations with up to 500 employees can buy through the Oracle Store; those with additional needs should contact sales. Its Java SE FAQ also describes the employee-based pricing and directs organizations with 501 or more employees to sales.

What the subscription includes

Oracle describes the subscription as including a commercial license for Oracle Java versions, Oracle support and performance, stability and security updates, plus tools and services for managing, securing, optimizing and modernizing Java deployments. Oracle separately says Java with subscription features and support is included at no additional charge for Java workloads running on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI). Organizations should distinguish that OCI statement from the employee-based subscription prices above; it does not say that all Java use outside OCI is included.

Oracle Vice President of Product Management Donald Smith said the objective was to make the subscription more accessible to small and medium businesses through online purchasing and annual pricing. That is Oracle’s stated rationale, not an independently measured outcome.
