Schlage Connect is a Z-Wave smart deadbolt for a compatible smart-home or security system; Schlage Sense is a discontinued Bluetooth lock designed around Apple Home. Sense and its WiFi Adapter were discontinued in July 2020, so this is mainly a choice for Connect buyers and people who already own Sense—not a comparison of two current Schlage models.

Which one makes sense for you?
You already have a compatible Z-Wave system
Connect is the relevant family to investigate if your home already uses a Z-Wave hub or security platform. Check the platform’s supported-device list for the exact lock variant before buying: Z-Wave compatibility in general does not guarantee that every hub supports every Connect model or feature. Schlage lists integrations that include SmartThings, Control4, Ring Alarm, ADT, Qolsys, and 2GIG, but the features available can vary by platform. You already own Schlage Sense
Sense may remain useful as legacy hardware, but its remote-access route depends on the Apple home hub arrangement or the old Sense WiFi Adapter. Schlage’s support information is specifically for existing owners, and both Sense and the adapter have been discontinued. Before relying on remote features, confirm that your existing hub and lock still work together; do not assume the discontinued adapter is readily available.

You want to buy a Schlage smart lock now
Do not treat Sense as a current alternative to Connect: Schlage has discontinued it. Connect remains listed by Schlage, but it is a Z-Wave lock whose smart-home and remote-control usefulness depends on a compatible system. If you are choosing a new lock, compare currently listed Schlage models separately and check the protocol and platform compatibility that fit your home.
What to verify before choosing Connect

What the specifications do—and do not—tell you
Schlage’s BE469 figures of four AA alkaline batteries and up to one year of battery life under typical use are manufacturer claims, not measured comparative results. The 30-code figure is a listed Connect specification. Neither figure establishes how a particular household’s lock will perform, and the reviewed official information does not support a claim that Connect or Sense is more reliable or lasts longer in real-world use.
