The SCHENKER ELEMENT 16 E26 can be configured with up to 72 GB of RAM, but only 64 GB is socketed: 8 GB is soldered to the board, and one SO-DIMM slot accepts up to 64 GB. Its tool-free bottom cover and replaceable components make it unusually serviceable for a modern laptop, while its integrated graphics, speakers and fan noise are notable compromises. It is best suited to buyers who value repair access, a sharp 120 Hz screen and long battery life more than strong graphics performance.
What the 72 GB RAM figure actually means
Schenker specifies 8 GB of soldered DDR5-5600 memory plus one accessible SO-DIMM slot supporting up to 64 GB, for a stated maximum of 72 GB. This is not a laptop with two replaceable memory slots. Notebookcheck also reports a 72 GB maximum; its reviewed configuration used 40 GB.
Module compatibility is an important qualification. Schenker says it had validated a Crucial 64 GB module using Micron B-Die, but that module was no longer available in sufficient quantities after Crucial left the consumer business. The manufacturer was seeking alternatives. That does not establish that any 64 GB DDR5-5600 SO-DIMM will work, or that a particular validated module is currently available. Check Schenker’s current guidance before buying a module.
Schenker also says firmware can disable faulty soldered memory and allow the system to continue using a working SO-DIMM in single-channel mode. The manufacturer describes this as a diagnostic and service feature, not a replacement for every memory repair.

How repairable and upgradeable is it?
Schenker says the bottom cover can be removed without tools and that opening the case automatically disconnects the battery electrically. The design uses separate left and right I/O boards rather than putting all side ports on the mainboard. The touchpad is screw-mounted and individually replaceable, and the keyboard is a separate module.
Parts Schenker identifies as comparatively straightforward repairs
- SO-DIMM memory and M.2 SSD
- Wi-Fi module and battery
- Keyboard, fans and I/O boards
- Covers and smaller chassis parts
These are manufacturer-identified lower-risk repairs, not a guarantee that every owner should attempt every job. Schenker says more complex repairs depend on the fault and the user’s experience. A mainboard can be removed and replaced, but the company generally handles mainboard replacement as an in-house service.
The model-specific Schenker download portal lists a Service Manual and Quick Start Guide. Schenker says the service manual provides step-by-step disassembly instructions, including for more extensive work on the mainboard, thermal module, I/O boards, touchpad, speakers and display assembly.

Storage and future mainboards
The M.2 storage slot supports PCIe 5.0 x4 NVMe SSDs and backward-compatible earlier NVMe generations, according to Schenker. The faster interface can be useful for high-throughput storage, though Schenker notes cooling can matter during sustained high SSD transfer rates.
Schenker says a direct Intel successor mainboard is planned and that the chassis was designed with multiple board generations in mind. It has not provided timing or guaranteed generations beyond that planned successor. The company says implementation of later boards depends in part on the platform’s commercial success, as well as suppliers and demand. Treat this as a conditional upgrade path, not a promised schedule.
What the review found in everyday use
Notebookcheck reviewed an E26 with an Intel Core Ultra 7 356H, 40 GB RAM and a 2 TB Samsung 9100 Pro SSD. The 16-inch matte IPS display runs at 2560 × 1600 and 120 Hz. Notebookcheck measured full sRGB coverage and reported no PWM flickering on its test unit. It praised the screen, keyboard, connectivity and battery runtime, and characterized the laptop as a good all-rounder.

Notebookcheck’s review also identifies meaningful drawbacks: the integrated graphics, with four Xe cores, are slow for graphics-intensive work; the speakers are poor; and the fans become very audible under higher workloads. The reviewer also noted creaking from the base. These are review findings, not guarantees that every workload or unit will behave identically.
Recommended Free Tools
The tested model includes a 72 Wh battery, Wi-Fi 7, two Thunderbolt 4 ports, two USB-A ports, HDMI and a microSD reader. Notebookcheck lists the laptop weight at 1.918 kg. The combination makes it a capable general-purpose work and multimedia machine on paper, but the graphics and speaker limitations make it a less convincing choice for gaming or media playback without headphones or external speakers.

Who should consider the SCHENKER ELEMENT 16 E26?
- A good fit: buyers who want a 16-inch high-resolution matte display, a full-size service path, and replaceable components such as the battery, Wi-Fi module, keyboard and storage.
- Check first: anyone who needs 64 GB in the SO-DIMM slot. Confirm a currently supported module with Schenker rather than assuming all modules of that capacity are compatible.
- Look elsewhere if: graphics performance, quiet operation under heavy load, or strong built-in speakers are high priorities.
- Do not buy on a future-board promise alone: a direct successor is planned, but timing and later generations are not guaranteed.
