Montevideo, Uruguay-based Scanntech announced a $180 million Series F financing on October 13, 2026. L Catterton led the round, Partners Group joined as co-lead through its private-equity growth strategy, and Bradesco and SPX participated. Scanntech plans to use the capital for geographic expansion, product development, broader analytics and artificial-intelligence capabilities, and entry into additional markets and consumer categories.
What Scanntech does
Founded in Uruguay in 1992, Scanntech connects directly to retailers’ point-of-sale (POS) systems. It processes granular, ticket-level transaction records and turns them into market intelligence for retailers, consumer-goods companies and distributors.
Unlike a survey or a panel that estimates shopping behavior from a sample, a direct POS connection can capture the contents and value of individual checkout transactions. Scanntech says its network processes daily ticket-level data representing more than 80% of retail sell-out in the markets where it operates. That percentage is a company statement and is not presented as a country-by-country figure.

How the POS-data model works
- Retail-system connection: Scanntech links its platform to participating retailers’ POS systems.
- Transaction capture: The connections provide ticket-level records from daily sales activity.
- Data processing: Scanntech aggregates and analyzes the transaction stream to identify sales, category and consumer-behavior patterns.
- Customer action: Retailers, brands and distributors use the resulting intelligence for decisions such as assortment, promotions, distribution and category planning.
The company’s differentiator, as described in the financing announcement, is the combination of direct POS access, fine-grained transaction detail and a regional data network. The announcement does not disclose the number of connected retailers, employees, customers or operating countries.

Why the $180 million financing matters
More geographic reach
Scanntech says the funding will support expansion into additional geographies. Extending direct POS connections can increase the breadth of the company’s retail dataset, although the announcement does not identify target countries or a timetable.
Broader products and categories
The company also intends to enter new consumer categories and develop additional products. For retailers, that could mean more tools built around store-level sales data; for consumer-goods companies and distributors, it could mean wider visibility into how products move through local retail channels. Specific launches were not announced.

Expanded analytics and AI
Scanntech plans to increase its analytics and AI capabilities, including AI-powered solutions intended to create more value for clients. The announcement does not specify model types, automation features, deployment dates or performance measurements, so the financing should be viewed as an investment in development and expansion rather than evidence that a particular AI product is already available.
What the data network can provide
Ticket-level, directly connected data can support a different set of questions from broad market estimates. Depending on the fields available in a retailer’s system and the permissions governing their use, analysts may be able to examine which products sell together, how pricing and promotions affect units, how demand changes by store or region, and how quickly trends appear in daily sales. Scanntech’s public announcement describes the data and intelligence platform at a high level; it does not publish a complete field list or customer case-study results.
Freshness is another important characteristic. Scanntech describes daily processing, which can give clients a shorter feedback cycle than periodic reports. “Daily” does not necessarily mean every transaction is delivered instantly, and the company has not stated a universal latency standard for all customers.

Tiago Andrade, head of private equity and growth equity in Latin America at Partners Group, described Scanntech as having “a hard-to-replicate data network and an intelligence platform that delivers tangible value for customers.” These statements explain the investors’ and management’s view of the company; they do not provide independent measurements of data exclusivity or customer returns.

Accordingly, the financing amount should not be used to infer Scanntech’s valuation, growth rate or market share beyond the company’s statement about covering more than 80% of retail sell-out in its operating markets.
What happens next
The immediate strategic priorities are expansion, new products, additional categories and AI-enhanced analytics. The practical test will be whether Scanntech can add retail-system connections while maintaining data quality, privacy controls and useful delivery for customers across different Latin American markets. The October 13 announcement establishes the funding and intended direction, but it does not yet establish the results of those initiatives.
