Use the Camera app to scan a paper document, then save it to Gallery; use Camera or Quick settings to read a QR code. The steps below cover both meanings of “scan,” including how to edit a document in Samsung Notes and export it as a PDF. Exact controls can vary with your Note10+’s software version and region.
Scan a paper document with the Camera app

Open Camera and position the page in the viewfinder.

When Scan appears, tap it and let the camera capture the page.

Review the result. Tap Retake if needed; otherwise tap Save.

Samsung says the saved scan is stored in Gallery. Its general Galaxy guide describes the scan workflow as able to remove unwanted shadows or hands and straighten rectangular shapes; results can vary, so check the saved image for readability. Samsung’s document scanning guide describes these steps for Galaxy phones and tablets generally, not specifically for every Note10+ software build.
Edit the scan in Samsung Notes or make a PDF

Open Samsung Notes and create a new note.

Choose Attach, then Image, then Gallery.

Select the saved scan and tap Done.

Edit the note as needed. Samsung Notes supports importing and exporting the document as a PDF.
For this route, the camera scan is first saved as an image in Gallery, then added to the note. Consult Samsung’s document scanning and editing instructions if the labels differ on your installed version.

Use Camera

Open Camera and select Photo mode.

Point the viewfinder at the QR code and wait for the detected link or action. You usually do not need to take a photo.

Review the destination before opening it.
If the camera does not recognize a code, open Camera settings and turn on Scan QR codes. Samsung’s Galaxy QR scanning guide gives this setting as a check when Camera does not scan.

Use the Quick settings shortcut

Swipe down with two fingers to open Quick settings.

Tap Scan QR code and point the scanner at the code.

Use the flashlight or choose an image from Gallery if needed; the available layout may vary.
Samsung’s QR code instructions describe this shortcut as an alternative to Camera.
If QR recognition is unreliable

Check that Scan QR codes is enabled in Camera settings.

Improve the lighting, tap the code to focus, or adjust the phone’s distance from it.

Try the Quick settings scanner or select a QR image from Gallery.
These are troubleshooting suggestions in Samsung Canada’s QR guide, updated July 2, 2026; Samsung notes that screens and settings can differ by country. Follow its safety advice: “Only scan QR codes from sources you trust.” Samsung Canada’s QR scanning and safety guidance.

Samsung’s general scanning pages describe Galaxy workflows, but they do not establish that every control appears identically on every Note10+. Samsung Germany lists manuals for the Galaxy Note10+ 5G model SM-N976B covering Android 9, 10, 11, and 12; its Android 12 manual is dated January 2022. That model-specific listing illustrates why the installed software generation matters, but it does not establish the update status of every regional Note10+ variant. If Scan does not appear for a document, check for Camera updates and consult Samsung support for your exact model and software combination. A missing control alone does not establish that the phone is defective.

Choose the right scanning route

The document and QR workflows are distinct: use document capture to keep a page, and QR scanning to read encoded content. Samsung’s steps for each are in its document guide and QR guide.
