To scan a QR code saved on a Samsung phone, open Gallery, select the image, then tap Bixby Vision. When the code is recognized, review the result and choose Open in browser or Copy. The exact controls vary by Galaxy model and software version.
Scan a QR code from an image in Gallery

Open Gallery and select the photo or screenshot containing the QR code. If it is in an email, message, or another app, save the image or take a screenshot first.

Tap the Bixby Vision icon. Samsung US describes it as an eye-shaped icon. Wait for the phone to analyze the image.

Review the result. If the code contains a web address, choose Open in browser to visit it or Copy to copy the URL. Other QR content may show different actions.

What to try if Bixby Vision is missing
Samsung does not guarantee the same Gallery controls on every Galaxy. Bixby Vision’s available features can vary by software version, and Samsung notes that labels and placement may differ by device, Android version, and One UI version.

Long-press the code in Gallery
Open the QR-code image in Gallery and press and hold the code. Samsung Japan documents this as another way to display information contained in a saved QR image. Whether it appears depends on the device and software version: Samsung Japan: How to read a QR code.

Samsung Colombia describes scanning an image in Gallery with Google Lens. Open the Google search bar and tap its Lens icon, or open the Google Lens app; select the QR-code image and check the link shown. If the image will not scan
Recognition may fail if the QR code is blurry, low-resolution, partly covered, or damaged. Try a clearer, complete image with the code fully visible. Samsung Canada lists these image-quality issues among reasons a code may not scan: Samsung Canada: How to scan a QR code on your Galaxy device.
Check a QR link before opening it
A QR code can lead to an unsafe website or unwanted content. Before choosing Open in browser, inspect the destination shown by the phone, especially when the image came through email, text, social media, or a messaging app. Scan codes only from sources you trust.

Gallery scanning is different from Camera scanning
The Gallery methods above analyze an image already saved on the phone. Camera QR controls are for pointing the camera at a code, not for reading a saved picture. Samsung Colombia says Camera’s QR setting is accessed differently in One UI 6.1 or earlier and One UI 7.0 or later; those version-specific Camera steps are not required for scanning from Gallery.
