Scaleway has announced plans for two distinct Northern European AI-compute deployments: an AMD Instinct MI355X-powered supercomputer in Sweden and a Copenhagen site built around NVIDIA HGX B300 systems. Neither deployment is reported as operational, and the announcements do not specify opening dates, GPU counts, power capacity or detailed configurations.
What Scaleway plans to deploy
The projects use different accelerator platforms and are separate deployments, not one shared Nordic cluster. Reuters reported on October 13, 2026, that the Swedish project would be an AI supercomputer using AMD Instinct MI355X accelerators. Reuters separately reported that the Copenhagen site would use NVIDIA HGX B300 systems.
The Swedish supercomputer would be Scaleway’s first such deployment outside France. Reuters says it is intended for commercial use and open to startups, AI companies and businesses across Europe. The announcement does not establish when customers will be able to use it.

Why the locations matter
For Sweden, the company’s stated case combines access to low-carbon electricity with the country’s AI sector. Reuters also identified the project’s supply chain, with roles spanning assembly and maintenance, server hardware, networking, storage and cooling liquid.
For Copenhagen, the stated location factors are its technology ecosystem, low-carbon electricity and cooler climate. A cooler environment can reduce the energy needed for cooling, but the announcement does not quantify energy savings or specify how either site will be powered in practice.

What remains unannounced
The October 13, 2026 reports do not provide deployment GPU counts, power capacity, opening dates or detailed site specifications. They report plans and company-stated rationale, not independently verified construction progress, final configurations, or performance. The MI355X and HGX B300 names identify hardware platforms; they are not counts of the GPUs planned for each site.

What the announcements mean for prospective customers
The plans point to a broader choice of AI-compute locations and accelerator platforms in Europe, but they are not yet actionable availability announcements. Organizations evaluating capacity should treat the Swedish and Copenhagen systems as planned deployments until Scaleway confirms launch timing, access terms and technical specifications.
AMD EMEA senior vice president Stephanie Dismore characterized the Swedish project as expanding customer choice through AMD Instinct GPUs and the ROCm software ecosystem. That is AMD’s description of the offering, not an independent comparison of MI355X and HGX B300 performance.
