To save an online video for later without installing software, use the video platform’s built-in Watch Later or Save option. It bookmarks the video in your account so you can find and stream it again; it does not create an offline video file.
Save a YouTube video to Watch Later on a computer

Open the video on YouTube.

Select More, then Save, and choose Watch later.

To find it again, open You in the guide and select Watch Later. To remove a saved video, open that list and remove the item.
YouTube also documents a Watch later shortcut that appears when you hover over a video thumbnail. YouTube says the playlist makes it easier to find videos again: Add and remove videos from Watch later on a computer. Videos marked as made for kids cannot be added to Watch Later or another playlist.

What Watch Later saves—and what it does not
A Watch Later entry is a bookmark to a video hosted by the platform. You still need to stream it, and it may no longer be available if the uploader or platform removes it or changes access. Saving it does not put a portable video file on your device.

YouTube’s separate offline-viewing feature has different conditions: it is available only in select locations, and in places where YouTube Premium is available, Premium members can download videos for offline playback on supported devices. YouTube says those downloads are encrypted and playable only in the YouTube app, not as ordinary video files: YouTube videos offline FAQs.
YouTube Studio provides a separate workflow for downloading videos you uploaded yourself. That creator-download option does not let you download other users’ videos: Download YouTube videos that you’ve uploaded.

Save a Vimeo video to Watch Later
In a Vimeo player, select Watch Later to add a public video to your private Watch Later page. The video owner can disable this option for public videos, so it may not appear on every video. See Vimeo’s instructions for adding a video to Watch Later.
Vimeo also distinguishes this bookmark from offline viewing and file downloads. Its help describes offline playlists in the iOS and Android apps, while browser download availability depends on whether the video owner enables downloads. Details are in Vimeo’s video download guidance.

If you cannot find the save option

YouTube: Check that you are signed in and look in the video’s More menu for Save. A video marked made for kids cannot be added to Watch Later.

Vimeo: The owner may have disabled Watch Later for that public video. If you need a file rather than a bookmark, browser download availability is also controlled by the owner.

Need to watch without internet? A Watch Later list will not provide that. Check the platform’s separate offline-viewing feature and its device, location, membership, and video eligibility conditions.
