There is no verified evidence that Sarfraz Maredia is leaving Uber on November 16, 2026. Uber’s leadership biography still lists him as global Head of Autonomous Mobility & Delivery, and an Axios report published September 23, 2026, also identified him in that role. The November 16 date and the description of his departure as the latest exit from Uber’s autonomous unit remain unconfirmed.

What is confirmed about Maredia’s Uber role

Uber’s current leadership information identifies Maredia as the company’s global Head of Autonomous Mobility & Delivery. His remit covers the autonomous marketplace and fleet operations, commercial strategy, partnerships and geographic expansion.

Uber says Maredia joined the company in 2014. In a LinkedIn post announcing his move into the autonomous mobility and delivery position, Maredia wrote that he had been at Uber for “almost 11 years.” Those statements are consistent with a tenure of more than 12 years by late 2026, but they do not establish an end date for his employment.

Uber’s April 2026 announcement about its autonomous-solutions initiative also quoted him using the title Global Head of Autonomous Mobility and Delivery. That company announcement provides additional evidence that he remained in the role during 2026.

Why the November 16 claim cannot be treated as fact

No departure announcement naming November 16 was identified in the available company information or recent reporting. The most recent cited independent report, published by Axios on September 23, 2026, still described Maredia as Uber’s head of autonomous mobility and delivery.

A current leadership listing does not rule out a later announcement, because executive changes can occur after a page is updated. It does mean that the specific claim that he is leaving on November 16 has not been corroborated as of October 13, 2026. There is also no verified evidence that his supposed departure is part of a series of exits from Uber’s autonomous unit.

The separate Serve Robotics board departure

The likely source of confusion is a different role. Serve Robotics announced on June 24, 2026, that Maredia was stepping down from its board after three years. That announcement concerns outside board service, not his employment at Uber.

Leaving a company board and leaving an employer are separate events. A board departure can reflect changes in outside commitments, governance plans or board composition; it is not evidence that the person has resigned from a primary job. In Maredia’s case, the Serve announcement does not contradict Uber’s listing of him as its autonomous-mobility and delivery chief.

Timeline of the verifiable record

Date Event What it establishes
2014 Maredia joins Uber, according to Uber’s leadership biography. Provides the basis for calculating his length of service.
Almost 11 years into his tenure Maredia announces that he has taken the global Head of Autonomous Mobility & Delivery role and describes his Uber tenure as “almost 11 years.” Confirms his stated tenure at the time of that post and his move into the role.
April 2026 Uber announces its autonomous-solutions initiative and quotes Maredia with the global head title. Shows the company publicly associating him with the role in 2026.
June 24, 2026 Serve Robotics announces that Maredia is leaving its board after three years. Confirms an outside board departure, not an Uber resignation.
September 23, 2026 Axios identifies Maredia as Uber’s head of autonomous mobility and delivery. Provides recent independent confirmation of his Uber role.
November 16, 2026 Claimed Uber departure date. Not verified by the cited sources.

What readers should watch for next

If Uber or Maredia confirms a departure, the announcement should be checked for four details:

  • whether it concerns Uber employment or an outside board position;
  • the effective date, including the year and time zone if relevant;
  • who will assume responsibility for autonomous mobility, delivery and fleet operations;
  • whether Uber describes the change as part of a broader organizational restructuring.

Until such a statement appears, it is more accurate to describe Maredia as Uber’s currently listed global Head of Autonomous Mobility & Delivery and to label the November 16 departure report unconfirmed.

Why the distinction matters for Uber’s autonomous strategy

Maredia’s listed responsibilities span marketplace operations, fleets, commercial partnerships and expansion. A change in that position could therefore affect how Uber coordinates autonomous-vehicle and delivery partnerships, but the available information does not establish that any such transition is scheduled.

Likewise, the record does not support calling a November 16 event the “latest exit” from Uber’s autonomous unit. That wording implies a documented sequence of departures, and no such sequence is established by the cited company pages or reporting.

The Bottom Line

Bottom line: Maredia has been at Uber since 2014 and is still publicly listed as its global Head of Autonomous Mobility & Delivery. His June 2026 departure from the Serve Robotics board was separate. As of October 13, 2026, neither a November 16 Uber departure nor a broader autonomous-unit exit sequence has been verified.
