Samsung’s 2026 Bespoke over-the-range microwave adds a front air intake alongside the conventional intake underneath, with the goal of capturing fumes from more of the cooktop, including its front burners. Samsung reports up to 82% fume capture in a controlled chamber test; that is a manufacturer-reported result, not proof of the same performance in a home kitchen.
What DualVent changes
Most over-the-range microwaves combine a microwave with a ventilation hood. Samsung’s DualVent design draws air through two intakes: one on the bottom and a second at the front. The front intake is intended to address a common limitation of rear-positioned intakes: fumes from front burners may not reach them as readily.
Samsung says the front blades open with a tap and close automatically when ventilation is switched off. The design changes where air enters the microwave; it does not, by itself, establish how much cooking pollution will be removed in every kitchen.

Does the microwave vent work on front burners?
Samsung specifically designed the added front intake to draw fumes from farther across the cooktop, including the front burners. That makes the design relevant if front-burner coverage is a priority, but the available performance figure comes from a controlled chamber test, not an independent test in a range of real kitchens.

In practice, capture depends on installation, duct type, cooking method, and the kitchen environment, according to Samsung. The company also says DualVent must be installed according to its guidelines. A buyer should therefore treat the front intake as a design intended to improve coverage—not a guarantee that every plume will be captured.
What Samsung’s “up to 82%” result measures
Samsung reports up to 82% fume capture based on a test conducted at the ICE&KS Pre-Development Lab on February 9, 2026. The company says the lab used a CO2 tracer method per LBNL (2020), comparing two intakes and one exhaust with standalone hoods under identical conditions. This is Samsung’s test and reporting; the cited material does not establish independent verification.

The result is not a claim that the microwave removes 82% of all household cooking pollution. It is a capture result from the stated chamber method, and Samsung cautions that real-world results vary with installation, ducting, cooking, and environment. The percentage should not be compared directly with airflow ratings such as CFM: those figures describe different characteristics.
How it compares with other over-the-range designs
Techlicious identifies LG ExtendaVent as another approach to front-burner coverage: its hood extends forward, while Samsung adds an intake at the front of the microwave. The cited reporting does not provide an independently tested head-to-head comparison, so it cannot establish which design captures more fumes.

When comparing models, consider intake placement and the available capture evidence alongside installation and duct requirements, cooking capacity, connected features, fit, and current price. Samsung’s U.S. catalogue, for example, lists the Smart SLIM ME11A7710DS/AA at 1.1 cubic feet and 550 CFM. Capacity and CFM are useful product specifications, but neither is directly comparable to Samsung’s 82% chamber capture result.
Connectivity and automatic fan operation
Samsung’s Auto Connectivity feature can coordinate the microwave with certain Samsung cooktops or range ovens that have Wi-Fi and are connected to the SmartThings app. Compatibility is limited to qualifying appliances, so check the current product information and your appliance model before relying on the feature.

Samsung says the ventilation fan can also start automatically as a safety measure if the microwave’s bottom temperature is high. That safety function takes precedence over Auto Connectivity.
Availability and what to verify before buying
Samsung’s U.S. announcement on August 19, 2026, said the microwave was available through select retailers and Samsung.com. A Samsung Global Newsroom release dated August 20 described U.S. and Canada availability beginning in September 2026 and said the product was exclusive to those markets. Availability and timing may differ by retailer and location.

Confirm the exact sellable model on the current listing before checking fit, specifications, stock, or price. Techlicious reported a $674 price at publication, but that dated amount should not be treated as current.
