A Samsung wireless LAN adapter such as the WIS12ABGNX adds wireless network connectivity to certain compatible older Samsung TVs, Blu-ray Disc players, and home theater systems. It plugs into a USB port, and you then set up Wi-Fi through the device’s own network menu. It does not make every Samsung TV wireless, so check your exact model’s manual before buying one.
What a Samsung wireless LAN adapter does
The WIS12ABGNX, also called LinkStick in Samsung product materials, is an external wireless network adapter. It provides a Wi-Fi connection for supported Samsung home-entertainment devices that lack built-in wireless networking or require this specific accessory. It is not a streaming service or screen-mirroring device.
Samsung’s manual lists IEEE 802.11a/b/g/n wireless standards and USB 2.0. Those specifications describe the adapter; they do not establish compatibility with every device that has a USB port.

The adapter plugs into the USB port of a compatible TV, Blu-ray Disc player, or home theater system. The device’s network settings, rather than a separate adapter app, are used to configure the connection. Samsung’s manual also refers to using an extension cable for insertion.

- Confirm that the exact device model supports the WIS12ABGNX in its manual or Samsung support documentation.
- Insert the adapter into the device’s USB port, following the device manual’s guidance about the port and any extension cable.
- On a TV, follow the manual’s “Network Connection → Wireless” instructions. On a Blu-ray player or home theater system, follow “Network Setup → Wireless Network.” Menu names and steps can differ by model.
Which Samsung devices are compatible?
The WIS12ABGNX manual identifies it as a 2010–2012 wireless LAN adapter for certain Samsung Smart TV/AllShare televisions, Blu-ray Disc players, and home theater systems from that period. Samsung cautions that “Compatibility may be limited to certain models and regions.” The broad device categories and date range are not a complete compatibility list.
Before purchasing, search the manual or Samsung support information for your device’s full model number and region. If documentation does not explicitly support the WIS12ABGNX, do not assume that the adapter will work. A generic USB Wi-Fi adapter is not established as a substitute, and this accessory should not be presumed necessary for newer Samsung TVs.

When this adapter may not be the answer
- Your device already has built-in Wi-Fi: Use its network setup rather than assuming it needs an external adapter.
- Your device has a wired LAN connection: Ethernet may be another way to connect, if the device and network setup support it.
- You cannot verify model compatibility: Check the exact model’s manual or Samsung support documentation before spending money; the adapter manual does not provide a complete model-by-region list.
What to verify before buying
- The complete TV, player, or home theater model number.
- Your device’s region and whether its documentation names the WIS12ABGNX.
- Whether the device already has wireless networking or can connect by wired LAN.
- Whether the seller’s listing identifies the exact adapter model; a generic USB Wi-Fi adapter is not necessarily compatible.
Samsung’s product information identifies the WIS12ABGNX, but the cited documentation does not establish current stock or retailer availability.
