Samsung Wallet is the closest equivalent to Apple Wallet on supported Samsung Galaxy devices. It brings payment cards and other supported digital items together in one app. Whether it can replace the particular cards, passes, IDs, transit options, or keys you use depends on your country, phone, bank or card issuer, and the feature you need.
What is Samsung Wallet?
Samsung Wallet is Samsung’s unified wallet app. Samsung describes it as built on Samsung Pay and incorporating features from Samsung Pass; Samsung Pay provides the payment foundation within Wallet. The app can bring together supported payment cards and other digital items. Samsung’s Wallet FAQ and its launch announcement describe this combined scope.
Depending on local support, Wallet may also hold loyalty cards, IDs, and digital keys. Those are possible capabilities, not a promise that every item or service is available to every user.
Will it replace the Apple Wallet features you use?
There is no universal feature-for-feature answer. Compare the specific things you use in Apple Wallet with what Samsung supports for your location and device:

- Payments: Check whether your bank or card issuer supports the card in Samsung Wallet in your country.
- Loyalty cards and passes: Verify that the particular program or pass is supported locally.
- IDs: Availability depends on the ID program and region.
- Transit: Check support for the transit service you use rather than assuming a general transit feature will work everywhere.
- Digital keys: Confirm that your particular car or home-key service, phone, and region are supported.
Samsung’s product and support information makes clear that features and content vary by market and device. Its Wallet FAQ and developer availability reference are useful starting points, but confirm support for the exact card or service you intend to use.
Which Samsung phones support Samsung Wallet?
Samsung’s US support guidance says Wallet is available on devices running Android 9 or later and lists compatible Galaxy phone models. That is published US guidance, not a guarantee that every qualifying Android version or Galaxy device can use every Wallet feature. Availability and content can vary by country, region, model, carrier, and firmware. Check Samsung’s US Wallet support FAQ for its device guidance, then confirm local availability for your specific phone.

You generally do not need to buy a separate accessory to use Wallet; the relevant requirement is a supported Galaxy phone. If you are choosing a phone, check its model and regional Wallet support before buying.
How to check whether it will work for you
- Identify your phone model and software. Compare the exact model and Android version with Samsung’s support information for your market.
- Check your country or region. Availability can differ by location, so use Samsung’s local support information and the country and device availability reference.
- Look up the feature you need. Check the specific bank or card, loyalty program, ID, transit service, or digital-key provider—not just whether the Wallet app is available.
- Confirm device-level requirements. Samsung says support can also depend on model, carrier, and firmware, so verify those details if the feature is missing or unavailable.
Samsung Wallet and Apple Wallet: the practical distinction
The useful comparison is not simply whether both apps are called wallets. Samsung Wallet is the Samsung counterpart, but matching a particular Apple Wallet use case requires checking its service and device support in your market. Samsung’s official materials establish the app’s broad categories of supported items while qualifying availability by country, region, and device; they do not establish universal parity with Apple Wallet.
