To restore only your Samsung TV’s picture settings, open Settings or All Settings > Picture > Expert Settings > Reset Picture, then confirm. Menu labels and confirmation options vary by model year and region. This resets picture adjustments—not the entire TV.
How to reset picture settings on a Samsung TV
- Press Home on the remote, or open Settings.
- If your menu shows it, select All Settings.
- Choose Picture, then Expert Settings.
- Select Reset Picture.
- Confirm using the on-screen option, such as Yes or Reset.
Samsung’s general US route is Settings (All Settings) > Picture > Expert Settings > Reset Picture, followed by Yes. Samsung Canada lists Reset for its 2022-and-newer instructions and Yes for older-menu instructions. The screens available on your TV can differ by model and year.
What this reset changes—and what it does not
Reset Picture restores picture settings to their factory defaults. Use it to undo picture-mode choices or other picture adjustments. It is not a full TV reset and does not wipe the TV’s broader settings.

A whole-TV reset has wider effects. Samsung notes that after resetting the TV, you will need to sign in to your apps again. Choose the picture-only reset if your goal is limited to restoring the image settings.

If your TV’s menu looks different
Menu routes can vary with model year, software version, and sales region. For example, Samsung Australia gives Settings > Picture > Expert Settings > Reset Picture for 2016–2025 TVs, while its 2015 instructions use Menu > Picture > Reset Picture. These regional instructions may not match every Samsung TV worldwide.
If those steps do not match your screen, check the user manual for your exact model. Samsung Canada also distinguishes between newer and older menus in its picture-reset instructions.

Why Reset Picture may be greyed out
Samsung Australia advises exiting the TV app running in the background, then trying again. Press Home, leave the app, and return to the picture settings to check whether Reset Picture is selectable. The Australian support page describes this workaround in its Samsung TV picture-reset guidance.

Run the TV’s Picture Test to help determine whether the problem is with the television or an external source. Samsung’s typical route is Settings > Support > Device Care > Self Diagnosis > Start Picture Test; on some models, start at Support > Self Diagnosis.

- The test does not appear or shows a problem: Samsung advises contacting support.
Samsung provides the diagnostic steps in its Picture Test support instructions and notes that available menus can differ by model.
