The quickest way to make a sticker on a Samsung tablet is in Gallery: open a photo, touch and hold the subject, choose Save as sticker, select a style, and tap Done. The result can be reused from the Samsung Keyboard sticker tray, placed on another Gallery image, saved as a PNG, or shared for printing when those options are available on your model and software.
Gallery also lets you draw or assemble decorations, while Creative Studio can generate sticker artwork from a photo, sketch, or text description on supported Galaxy tablets. These are different workflows: the first makes a cutout from an existing image, the second decorates a photo, and the third creates optional AI-assisted artwork with device, account, internet, resizing, and watermark limitations.
Choose the right sticker workflow
Decide what you want to end up with before opening an app. A photo cutout is best when you want a person, pet, object, or other subject as a reusable digital sticker. Gallery decorations are better for drawing, lettering, or combining several elements on a finished image. Creative Studio is useful when you want generated artwork rather than a faithful cutout, but it is not available on every Galaxy tablet.

Before you start
- Update the tablet enough to expose the current Gallery and keyboard controls. Menu names and locations can differ by Galaxy model and software version.
- For a cutout, choose a photo in which the intended subject is clearly separated from the background. Hair, thin objects, shadows, and objects touching the subject are harder for automatic selection.
- Keep the original photo. Gallery’s sticker workflow creates a reusable element, while editing a photo creates a separate edited image; retaining the original gives you a clean retry if the selection needs work.
- If you plan to use an AI route, confirm the exact tablet model, One UI version, Samsung account requirement, and internet requirement first. Creative Studio and drawing-assist features are not universal across Galaxy tablets.
Method 1: Turn a photo subject into a sticker in Gallery
This is the shortest path for most people. It creates a cutout from a photograph rather than asking you to draw an outline by hand.

Make the initial cutout
- Open Gallery and select the photo containing the subject.
- Touch and hold the subject. Keep holding until the tablet identifies it and displays the selection controls.
- Tap Save as sticker. If the command is not shown, the model or software may not support that exact control, or the subject may not have been recognized.
- Choose one of the available sticker styles.
- Tap Done to save the custom sticker.
The automatic result depends on the image. A plain background and visible contrast generally produce a cleaner edge than a busy scene. If the selection includes a nearby object or omits part of the subject, use the editor’s cleanup and selection controls before saving.
Refine the selection when the edge is wrong
Samsung’s support guidance documents more than a single automatic tap on supported versions. You may be able to switch to a manual or free-form selection, use a shape-based selection, and adjust the border thickness and color. These controls are useful for a product, logo-like object, or drawing whose outline the automatic tool does not understand.
- With the subject selected, open the available edit or selection controls rather than immediately confirming the sticker.
- Use manual/free-form selection to add or remove areas the automatic result missed.
- Try shape selection when the subject is roughly circular, rectangular, or otherwise geometric.
- Adjust border thickness and color if the sticker needs a visible outline against different backgrounds.
- Inspect small areas around hair, fingers, handles, and overlapping objects, then save when the edge is acceptable.
Control names can vary by device, so do not assume every tablet exposes every refinement option. If no refinement tools appear, choose a photo with stronger separation or edit the result after placing it on another image.
Use the sticker in a message
- Open a messaging app that uses the Samsung Keyboard.
- Bring up the keyboard and open its sticker tray.
- Choose the custom sticker you saved from Gallery.
- Insert it into the message using the keyboard’s normal send controls.
The sticker is a reusable digital item, so you do not need to recreate the cutout for each message. If the custom item does not appear, check that the Samsung Keyboard is active rather than another keyboard and that the tablet is using the same user profile in which the sticker was saved.

Place it on another Gallery photo
- Open the destination photo in Gallery.
- Tap Edit, then open Decorations and Stickers.
- Select the custom sticker.
- Move and resize it over the photo. Use the available rotation or styling controls if your editor provides them.
- Save the edited image as a new photo.
This creates a composed image with the sticker layered over the destination photo. It is not the same as exporting a multi-layer design file: Samsung’s cited Gallery instructions describe saving the edited picture, not preserving independently editable layers.
Method 2: Draw or assemble a sticker-style design in Gallery
Use this route when the desired result is lettering, a doodle, a combination of elements, or a decorated picture rather than one isolated photographic subject. Gallery’s editor includes decorations for drawing, text, preloaded stickers, and custom stickers you have already saved.
Build the design
- Open a source or blank-looking photo in Gallery and tap Edit.
- Open Decorations.
- Choose the drawing tool to sketch directly over the image, or choose text to add a label.
- Open Stickers to add a preloaded sticker or a custom sticker from your saved collection.
- Position, resize, and adjust each element with the controls shown by the editor.
- Save the completed image.
This method is practical for a greeting graphic, annotated picture, or a simple sticker sheet assembled as one image. It does not turn the whole composition into a new keyboard sticker automatically. If you need a reusable keyboard item, create and save the individual subject as a custom sticker first, then use it in the decoration editor.
When drawing is preferable to a cutout
- Choose drawing when the design is original line art and there is no source photograph.
- Choose text and decorations when the output is a finished graphic rather than a transparent subject.
- Choose the cutout workflow when you need the subject to remain separate so it can be moved onto many different photos or inserted from the keyboard.
Method 3: Generate sticker artwork with Creative Studio
Creative Studio is an optional AI-assisted route. Samsung describes adding a photo or sketch, writing a short description, selecting a style, generating a design, and saving a sticker set for use in photos and messages. It should be treated as a separate feature from the basic Gallery cutout: having Gallery stickers does not mean the tablet has Creative Studio.

Check whether the tablet supports it
Samsung’s S Pen guidance lists Creative Studio for Tab S12 Ultra, Tab S12+, Tab S11 Ultra, Tab S11, Tab S10+, Tab S10 Ultra, Tab S9, Tab S9+, Tab S9 Ultra, Tab S8, Tab S8+, and Tab S8 Ultra. Samsung states that other tablet models do not have the feature in that guidance. Confirm the exact model and current software because availability can change with regional releases and updates.
Related drawing-assist features also cover only selected Galaxy devices and software versions. Some AI capabilities require a Samsung account and an internet connection. If an AI menu is absent, that is a compatibility or account/software issue—not a failure of the Gallery cutout process.
Create a generated sticker set
- Open Creative Studio on a supported tablet.
- Choose whether to start with a photo or a sketch, according to the options shown.
- Enter a short description of the artwork you want. Describe the subject, mood, and visual treatment rather than relying on a vague one-word prompt.
- Select a style from the available choices.
- Generate the design and review the result.
- Save the sticker or sticker set for use in photos and messages.
The exact controls can change with the Creative Studio release. Generated output is not guaranteed to preserve every detail of the source image, so use the Gallery cutout route when faithful subject isolation matters.
Understand the AI output caveat
Samsung says that edited images may be resized and will have a visible AI watermark. That makes Creative Studio less suitable when you need a clean, exact-size, print-ready asset. Treat the generated image as artwork for digital use unless you have checked its dimensions and the watermark is acceptable for your intended output.

Save, export, and print a physical sticker
Save a cutout as an image or PNG
Samsung’s regional photo-sticker instructions document saving a cutout as an image in PNG format, saving it as a Samsung Keyboard sticker, copying it, or sharing it. The exact buttons can differ by model and software. PNG is the useful choice when you need an image file that can be placed in another app or sent to a printer.
- After selecting or refining the subject, open the save, copy, or share options offered by the editor.
- Choose the image/PNG option if you need a standalone file.
- Use Samsung Keyboard sticker when the main goal is messaging; Samsung’s instructions specify this route for One UI 6.0 or later.
- Choose Share when sending the image to another app or a printing workflow.
Samsung warns that screenshots and menus differ by model and software. If your tablet shows only a share command, use that route rather than assuming a missing PNG command means the cutout cannot be exported.
Send the image for printing
The share route can include printing, depending on the apps and printer services installed on the tablet. Samsung confirms that a photo cutout can be shared for printing, but its cited instructions do not define sticker-sheet dimensions, margins, bleed, printer settings, or paper compatibility.

If you use printable adhesive sticker paper, verify that the paper is suitable for your printer and follow the printer and paper manufacturer’s instructions. Do not assume that a digital PNG will automatically be arranged at a particular physical size. Set the layout in the printing app you choose, then check the preview before committing paper.
Use Samsung Notes as a page-based option
Samsung Notes can export a note as a PDF. You can therefore arrange artwork on a note page and export that page for sharing or printing. Samsung’s cited Notes instructions do not specify sticker-sheet page dimensions, safe margins, bleed, printer profiles, or paper types, so those details must be decided in the Notes layout and the print dialog you use.

Which method should you use?
- Use Gallery cutout for a pet, person, object, or product from a photo that you want to reuse in messages and on other images.
- Use Gallery drawing and assembly for hand-drawn marks, captions, and a finished decorated picture. Expect a saved image rather than a layered project file.
- Use Creative Studio when you want generated styles or a set of imaginative designs and your exact tablet supports the feature. Check account, internet, resizing, and watermark conditions first.
- Use PNG/share or Samsung Notes PDF when the next step is moving the artwork to another app or arranging it for printing. Neither route supplies Samsung-defined sticker-sheet dimensions or printer settings.
For a dependable first attempt, start with a high-contrast photo and the Gallery press-and-hold workflow. It gives you the broadest practical reuse—keyboard, Gallery decorations, image export, and sharing—without depending on the model-limited AI tools.
