Samsung’s April 2026 smart-glasses leak sketched out two designs and a detailed hardware list. Since then, Samsung has previewed eyewear with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker and officially introduced intelligent eyewear built around Android XR and Gemini. Some broad ideas in the leak now fit the announced product, but Samsung has not confirmed its codenames, the alleged 12-megapixel sensor or 155 mAh battery, or a future micro-LED model.
What the April 2026 leak said
On April 28, 2026, Cinco Días, citing Android Headlines, reported that Samsung was developing two smart-glasses designs. The report called the first Jinju and described it as an audio- and camera-focused model without a built-in display. It called the more advanced design Haean and said it could include a micro-LED panel, with a target timeframe of 2027. Those names, features, and timing remain leak claims; Samsung’s later official announcements did not confirm them.
The leak attributed a Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 processor, a Sony IMX681 12-megapixel camera, an approximately 155 mAh battery, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 5.3, directional speakers in the temples, and photochromic lenses to Jinju. It estimated a weight of about 50 grams and described voice interaction through Gemini, audio, camera use, and touch controls on a temple. These details are not a verified specification sheet. Samsung later confirmed the Snapdragon AR1 Gen1 platform for its announced eyewear, but did not confirm the other listed components or Jinju’s codename.
What Samsung has officially announced
May preview: two eyewear styles and named partners
On May 20, 2026, Samsung and Google showed two premium intelligent-eyewear styles at Google I/O, developed with Gentle Monster and Warby Parker. Samsung described the glasses as a companion to a mobile phone, with voice interaction and access to navigation assistance, notifications, translation, and photo capture. It said the first collections were scheduled for fall 2026 in select markets, with further details to come. That was a planned window, not a complete market-by-market availability announcement.

July introduction: Android XR, Gemini, camera, and processor
At Galaxy Unpacked on July 22, Samsung officially introduced its intelligent eyewear. The company says it runs on Android XR, brings Gemini into a wearable form, includes a camera, and uses Qualcomm Snapdragon AR1 Gen1. Samsung also lists touch interaction and experiences such as summarizing messages, reading information aloud, live translation, capturing scenes including whiteboards and notes, and location-based guidance.
Samsung’s announcement says the eyewear can provide up to nine hours of use on a charge and that its charging case can provide up to seven additional full charges. In an August 3 interview, Samsung executive James Choi described up to nine hours of active use, including demanding Gemini and video-recording experiences, and more than seven full case recharges. These are manufacturer claims, not independently measured battery results.

Will Samsung’s smart glasses have a display?
The leak distinguished between a first model without a display and a later Haean model with a reported micro-LED panel. Samsung has not confirmed that roadmap or identified a display-equipped version in the official product information reviewed. The safest current description is that Samsung has introduced intelligent eyewear with camera, voice, audio, and touch-led features; whether the announced eyewear has a display, and whether a separate micro-LED model will ship, are not established by those announcements.
How the glasses fit into Samsung’s ecosystem
Samsung positions the eyewear as a companion device rather than a replacement for a phone. Choi said Samsung designed it to help people get more value from the mobile experiences they already use. Samsung also says its system uses split computing between the glasses and a connected Galaxy phone, and describes the glasses as a companion to Galaxy phones and other wearables. In practice, that makes the phone relationship important: Samsung’s materials describe phone-connected experiences, not a wholly standalone substitute for a smartphone.

Comfort and daily wear are central to Samsung’s stated design approach. Choi said the team prioritizes fit, materials, thermal management, and battery efficiency, and Samsung cited around 200 global patent applications in the intelligent-eyewear category. These are company statements about its development priorities and activity, not independent proof of comfort or adoption.

The cited official announcements do not establish a consumer price, full retail availability, or a definitive list of launch markets. Samsung’s May statement named fall 2026 as the planned timing for first collections in select markets, but did not specify all regions or a retail date. The announcement of the product does not by itself establish current stock or a live retailer listing.

There is also no independent functional test in the cited event coverage. Android Central’s Derrek Lee reported that the models he handled at the July 22 Unpacked event were not functioning products; he did not use them or put them on. His report therefore cannot verify actual performance, fit, or battery life. For now, Samsung’s stated capabilities and endurance figures should be read as manufacturer specifications and claims.
