Samsung Reminder helps you capture tasks on a Galaxy device and bring them back to your attention at a chosen time or place. You can enter reminders in the app, add notes or supporting content, create some by voice with Bixby, and—where the option is available—sync them with Microsoft To Do.
Exact labels and available features can vary by Galaxy model, One UI version, and Reminder app version. Notifications are required for the app; location and microphone access support specific features rather than basic manual reminders.
How to create your first Samsung Reminder
- Open the Reminder app on your Galaxy device.
- Tap Add.
- Enter the task or note you want to remember.
- Add a time or place if you want an alert tied to either one.
- Save the reminder.
The app is the most direct way to create a reminder. Depending on your device and app version, you may also be able to create one through Calendar, voice input, or by sharing content from another app.
Choose when or where you want an alert
Time-based reminders
Add a time when you want the task to come back to your attention. To change it later, open the reminder and edit its time.

Place-based reminders
You can associate a reminder with a place so it can alert you based on location. Location access is an optional permission used for this feature. If location access is unavailable or denied, do not assume a place-based alert will work; check the app’s permission settings and the options available on your device.
Add useful details and reference material
When editing a reminder, Samsung says you can add a memo or picture. The app listing also describes checklists and attachments, while sharing workflows can capture text, pictures, links, and other content from supported apps. The available attachment types and sharing targets depend on the app, permissions, and device configuration.
Use a checklist when a task has several parts, or attach the reference material you will need when the alert appears. To revise an existing reminder, open it and choose Edit.

Capture reminders with Bixby or another app
Use Bixby for a spoken reminder
Ask Bixby to remind you about a task at a stated time. Samsung also documents repeating reminders, including a weekly task. You may be able to invoke Bixby with a configured Bixby or Side button. The Galaxy Store listing says Bixby voice reminder creation requires a Samsung account and a network connection; that condition applies to this voice workflow, not to creating a reminder manually in the app.
Bixby can create reminders, but Samsung says you must open Reminder to complete or delete them.
Share content into Reminder
Some Samsung app workflows, including certain Phone and Messages flows, can add reminders. You can also share content from supported apps such as Internet or Gallery to create a reminder around a link, picture, or other item. The exact options vary by app and device.

Organize, complete, or delete tasks
Use categories and completed items
Samsung documents category management and a view for completed reminders. Use categories to group tasks in a way that suits your own workflow, then check the completed view when you need to revisit finished items.
Mark a reminder complete
Tap its circle in the reminder list, or open the reminder and choose Complete.
Delete a reminder
Deletion is separate from completion. Open the reminder and choose Delete when you want to remove it rather than mark it done.

Can Samsung Reminder sync with Microsoft To Do?
Samsung’s U.S. support guidance documents syncing Reminder with Microsoft To Do. To use the integration, sign in to Microsoft To Do from Reminder; Samsung says reminders can then be accessed through Outlook. The available account choices and options may differ by region or account, so check the settings shown on your device rather than assuming every setup exposes the same controls.

Check both the Reminder app’s own notification settings and the Galaxy system’s app-notification controls. Samsung says alert styles and notifications can be adjusted in Reminder settings. System notification categories may be configurable through Galaxy Settings when the app and device expose them, but the available controls vary.

- Review Reminder’s notification and alert-style settings.
- If you expect a place alert, check whether location permission is available and enabled.
- If you expect a Bixby-created reminder, check the voice workflow’s account and network requirements.
Samsung’s Galaxy Store listing identifies Notifications as required. It lists Calendar, Photos and videos, Location, Contacts, Nearby devices, Call logs, and Microphone as optional permissions for particular functions, and says basic app features can be used without granting optional permissions.

One UI 8.0 issue: reminders not registering from other apps
Samsung describes a specific registration issue on some Galaxy phones and tablets running Android B OS/One UI 8.0. The notice ties it to Voice Recorder version 21.5.81.43 or later being updated without a device restart. It is a scoped issue, not evidence that Reminder is generally broken.
- Check the Voice Recorder version on the affected device and update it if outdated.
- Restart the device.
- Try adding a reminder from the affected app again.
- If the issue remains, Samsung lists clearing the affected app’s cache as an optional step.
Which reminder workflow should you use?

The Galaxy Store listing identifies Reminder version 12.7.07.10, published by Samsung Electronics Co., Ltd., with a listing date of 2026-09-22. That is the version and date stated in the listing, not a guarantee that every Galaxy device has that version or the same feature set.
