On many Samsung refrigerators, press and hold Ice Maker Off or Ice Maker for about three seconds, then check that the off indicator appears. The exact control and sequence depend on the refrigerator model and panel, so use the model-specific manual if your panel differs.
Find the control that matches your Samsung refrigerator
Samsung panels may label the control Ice Maker Off, Ice Off, or Ice Maker. Other models use a touch icon, navigation-button menu, or Family Hub settings. These interfaces are not interchangeable: follow the procedure for your model and panel.
Samsung’s Gulf instructions, UK guidance, and Canada support page describe different control approaches. Consult the user manual for your specific refrigerator when the labels or steps do not match.

Turn off ice production
- Check the panel. Locate the ice-maker control or menu described in your model’s manual.
- Use the matching control. On applicable models, press and hold Ice Maker Off or Ice Maker for about three seconds. Other panels may use a touch toggle or menu sequence instead.
- Confirm the result. Look for the off indicator on the display. Do not assume the setting changed unless the panel confirms it.
Samsung says: “When the ice maker is turned off, ice making is disabled even if you press the Cubed Ice or Crushed Ice buttons on the dispenser panel.”

Empty and handle the ice bucket carefully
If you plan to leave ice production off, remove the existing ice so cubes do not clump together. Support the bucket from the bottom and side, then lift and pull it straight out. Return it firmly when finished. The bucket is very cold; avoid reaching deep inside it. See Samsung’s bucket and shutoff guidance for handling details.
Know what can turn the ice maker back on
On models covered by Samsung’s guidance, holding the dispenser lever for more than five seconds can automatically turn the ice maker back on. If you are trying to keep production off, avoid holding the lever that long. Samsung UK also advises waiting at least one minute after switching the maker off before switching it on again.

For BESPOKE Dual Ice Maker models, select each maker separately
The BESPOKE Dual Ice Maker has separate controls for Cubed Ice and Ice Bites. Wake the display, navigate to the maker you want, confirm the selection, choose On or Off, and confirm again. Check Samsung’s BESPOKE Dual Ice Maker instructions for the panel-specific sequence.
Samsung lists production capacity for this model as 3 pounds per day for each unit, or 6 pounds total when both are on. That figure applies to the BESPOKE Dual Ice Maker only, not Samsung refrigerators generally.

Do not confuse Ice Off with Cooling Off or Demo mode
Cooling Off, also called Demo or Shop mode, is not a setting for stopping only ice production. Samsung says it disables the refrigerator’s cooling systems, ice making, and water dispenser. The display may show OF OF, O FF, OFF OFF, or scrolling temperature bars. If you see one of these displays, follow Samsung’s panel-specific instructions for leaving Cooling Off mode rather than treating it as the ice-maker indicator.
