If your Samsung refrigerator has stopped making ice, do not assume the ice maker assembly needs replacing. First check the reset procedure, ice bucket, dispenser, and water filter for your refrigerator’s design. If those checks point to a failed assembly, use the refrigerator’s full model number to identify a compatible part, then follow the service documentation for that exact model. Samsung uses different ice-maker layouts and parts, so there is no universal replacement part number or removal procedure.
Before replacing the ice maker, rule out simpler problems
No ice can result from a reset, bucket, dispenser, or filter issue; the symptom alone does not establish that the assembly has failed.
Try the reset procedure for your ice-maker location
Samsung provides different reset guidance depending on where the ice maker is located. For models with an ice maker in the back of the freezer door, Samsung’s instructions begin with removing the ice bucket and locating the test button. Bucket removal and button placement vary by design, so use the instructions that match your refrigerator: Samsung’s freezer-door ice maker reset guide. For ice makers in the refrigerator compartment or a side-by-side freezer, use Samsung’s separate reset guide instead of transferring steps from another layout.
Samsung cautions against repeatedly pressing the Test button after the tray fills with ice or water: doing so can cause water to overflow or ice to jam.

Inspect the bucket and dispenser
If the problem is with dispensing ice, check the bucket and actuator rod. Samsung says that if the dispenser flap does not open and close when the actuator rod is moved, the bucket may need replacement rather than the ice maker assembly. If you rinse the bucket, dry it thoroughly before reinstalling it; residual moisture can freeze and cause the problem to return. See Samsung’s ice dispenser troubleshooting guidance.
Consider the water filter when ice quality changes
If ice or water begins to taste or smell bad, Samsung recommends replacing the water filter. That symptom is different from proof of an ice-maker assembly failure; address the filter issue before ordering an assembly.

Find the correct replacement for your refrigerator
Samsung refrigerator ice makers are not one-size-fits-all. Parts listings include multiple assembly part numbers, including DA97-series numbers. Search using the refrigerator’s full model number, then verify the replacement part number and compatibility before ordering. Samsung Parts provides model lookup on its ice maker replacement parts page; availability and inventory can change.

A listing for an assembly does not establish that it fits your refrigerator unless the model lookup confirms compatibility. Do not select a part based on the brand name or a similar-looking component alone.

Samsung’s product support pages provide manuals and repair guides by model. Find your refrigerator’s support page and consult its documentation for access, disconnection, and installation instructions. For example, Samsung’s RF32CG5400MTAA support page illustrates model-specific documentation; it is not a universal ice-maker replacement guide.
