Which Samsung phones still have a microSD slot?
Samsung’s current expandable-storage choices are concentrated in selected Galaxy A models. Its June 2026 announcement says the A27 5G supports microSD cards up to 2 TB and would be available in select markets from July 3, 2026. Samsung’s current A-series overview also lists the A17 5G with expansion up to 2 TB, while Samsung Germany’s support guide confirms up to 2 TB for the A26 5G. Capacity figures are model-specific ceilings, not a guarantee that every regional variant supports the same card. Samsung says to confirm the exact phone’s specifications or manual. The A27’s availability is specifically described as limited to select markets, and Samsung’s broader announcements also qualify availability by country, region, and carrier.
Which model should you choose?
Choose the Galaxy A27 5G if you want the newest documented option
The A27 5G is the newest slot-equipped model in the official evidence available here. Its up-to-2-TB card support gives it room for a large media library, while the listed internal-storage options range from 128 GB to 256 GB. Confirm that the A27 variant is sold in your market and that the local SKU retains the slot before ordering.

Consider the Galaxy A17 5G or A26 5G for a documented 2-TB ceiling
Samsung lists both phones as supporting cards up to 2 TB. The A17 overview identifies a 4 GB/128 GB configuration, while Samsung India’s A26 page states six generations of OS upgrades and six years of security updates. That support commitment is stated on the India page; it should not be assumed to apply identically in every market.
Look at the A55 or A25 only if you verify availability
The A55 is documented by Samsung Germany for cards up to 1 TB. Samsung’s U.S. A25 sheet likewise lists up to 1 TB, alongside 128 GB internal storage, and specifies that the card is sold separately. These documents confirm support, not current inventory or new-device availability where you live.

Do not assume every Galaxy A phone has a slot
Samsung’s A-series has become less consistent about expandable storage. Its Germany support guide says the Galaxy A36 and A56 do not have a microSD slot, even though they are A-series phones. The same guide points to selected entry-level models as the remaining choices, so check the exact model rather than relying on the family name. Samsung announced the A26, A36, and A56 global availability on March 28, 2025, but that announcement’s availability is also market-qualified.

If expandable storage is essential, verify the specification page for the precise model and regional SKU before purchase; a phone’s name alone is not enough.

How to choose a compatible microSD card
- Confirm the phone and regional model. Open the relevant Samsung product specification page or user manual and verify that the exact device has a microSD slot.
- Check the card-capacity ceiling. Samsung says the maximum supported card size varies by model. Do not infer the A27 or A26 limit from another Galaxy phone.
- Match speed to your use. For 4K video recording, Samsung recommends a U3/V30 card or faster. For other uses, select a card that meets the phone’s documented compatibility requirements.
- Check what is included. The A25 U.S. sheet explicitly says the microSD card is sold separately. Do not assume a card is included with another model unless its local package listing says so.
What to verify before buying
- Does the exact regional model number have a physical microSD slot?
- What maximum card capacity does its manual or local specification page state?
- Is the phone actually available from a seller in your country? Announced availability is not the same as local stock.
- Does the phone’s internal storage meet your needs without a card, and is the storage configuration you want sold locally?
- If long-term software support matters, is the stated commitment confirmed for your market and model?
