If a video looks clear in your Samsung phone’s Gallery but arrives blurry or pixelated, the sharing method or a message-quality setting is the likely cause—not the fact that it was recorded on a Samsung phone. MMS messages are compressed by carriers, while Google Messages offers an RCS option for sending media at original quality. If the Gallery copy is blurry too, troubleshoot the camera instead.
First, find out where the quality loss happens
- Open the video in Gallery and inspect the original recording.
- Compare it with the copy the recipient received. If the Gallery original is clear but the received copy is not, focus on the messaging route and its quality settings. If both copies are blurry, start with camera conditions and lens cleanliness.
If the received video is blurry, check how it was sent
MMS may compress the video
When a text conversation sends a video as MMS, the carrier may compress the media. Google confirms that carriers compress MMS messages, which can affect image quality. The result can look softer or more pixelated than the Gallery original. Google Messages Help
Choose original quality in Google Messages
In Google Messages, attach the video and check the quality option in the attachment preview. Choose HD+ Original quality to send at full media resolution. Google Messages also offers HD Optimized for chat, which is intended to optimize media for chat rather than preserve full resolution. The selected preference is saved for future media, and you can change it when attaching a file. Google’s instructions for sharing photos and videos
Samsung also advises turning off Send photos faster in Google Messages settings for higher resolution media. Its guidance notes that image quality may vary. Samsung’s RCS announcement

- 【Strong Adsorption】The inspiration of the silicone phone suction case comes from the adhesive force of the octopus. Each suction cup phone mount is 3.15 inches long and 2.17 inches wide, with 24 independent suction cups providing a stronger and more stable suction force, so you don't have to worry about your phone falling during use.
- 【Back of Phone Suction Grip】Remove the adhesive film on the phone suction cup and stick it on the phone case. You can then fix the phone on any smooth surface, which is very convenient. (The phone suction cup cannot be removed and reused after being attached to the phone case. It is recommended to attach it to a regular phone case, not a valuable one.)
- 【Widely Used】Our non-slip silicone phone sticky grip mount attaches to almost any flat phone case and make it compatible with common mobile phones such as iPhone and Android. You can shoot, watch videos or video calls in the kitchen, gym, dance studio, bathroom and other places.
- 【Capture the Wonderful Picture】Whether you are a TikTok creator or just like to share videos and photos, this phone suction cup can help you hands-free capture wonderful videos and photos for sharing with friends.
- 【Note】You can fix the phone suction cup on a smooth surface such as a mirror or glass. If necessary, wipe the suction cup with a damp cloth to obtain stronger suction. Before releasing your hand, make sure the phone is firmly fixed. (Not applicable to rough walls, wooden surfaces, and other uneven surfaces)
Confirm that the conversation is using RCS
The quality selector is relevant when the conversation is using RCS; do not assume it is active just because both people have smartphones. RCS availability depends on support and activation for the participants and their messaging services. Samsung’s 2024 announcement said all chat members needed RCS enabled, with Google Messages on Android and iOS 18 or later on iPhone. Those were the conditions in that announcement, not a guarantee of present-day availability for every carrier, device, or region. Samsung’s 2024 announcement
For a large video, send a downloadable original
If texting continues to reduce quality, use a file-transfer or cloud-link method that lets the recipient download the original file instead of converting it for messaging. Before relying on a particular service, check its file-size limits and whether it re-encodes videos; limits and behavior vary, and no method is guaranteed to preserve quality in every setup. If keeping the original matters, compare the received file’s resolution and size with the source.

- SUPERIOR COMFORT — Unlike traditional circular ear buds, the design of EarPods is defined by the geometry of the ear. Which makes them more comfortable for more people than any other ear bud–style headphones.
- HIGH-QUALITY AUDIO — The speakers inside EarPods have been engineered to maximize sound output and minimize sound loss, which means you get high-quality audio.
- BUILT-IN REMOTE — EarPods with USB-C plug also include a built-in remote that lets you adjust the volume, control the playback of music and video, and answer or end calls with a pinch of the cord.
- COMPATIBILITY — Works with all devices that have a USB-C port.
- INTEGRATED MICROPHONE — A built-in microphone precisely captures your voice while you’re on the phone, taking a FaceTime call, or summoning Siri — so you’re always heard loud and clear.
If the Gallery original is blurry, troubleshoot the camera
Check light, focus distance, and lens cleanliness
Low light, shooting distance, environmental conditions, and camera features can affect capture quality. Wipe the camera lenses gently with a soft, dry microfiber cloth. Samsung’s camera guidance also notes that a lens protector or cover can interfere with focus or cause light distortion; test without it if the original footage is out of focus or distorted. Allow enough distance for close subjects
A subject that is too close may not be in focus. Move the phone farther away and check the preview before recording. Camera behavior and available settings vary by Galaxy model, so the exact menu path is not universal.

Choose a sending method that fits the situation
| Method | Quality trade-off | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| MMS text | Carriers compress MMS media, which can reduce quality. | Use another route if the received video must match the original. |
| RCS in Google Messages | Google Messages offers HD Optimized for chat and HD+ Original quality; Samsung says quality may vary. | Confirm RCS is active for everyone in the conversation, then select HD+ Original quality when attaching the video. |
| File transfer or cloud link | Can let the recipient download the original, but preservation depends on the service and its settings. | Check file-size limits and verify the downloaded file if exact preservation matters. |
There is no single file-size limit that applies to every carrier, messaging app, or transfer service. Data use, transfer time, and the recipient’s ability to download the file also depend on the route you choose.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. Why the exact fix depends on your setup
The right steps can vary with your Galaxy model, Android and One UI versions, country, carrier, messaging app, recipient, and whether the video is already blurry before sending. Google’s quality selector applies to Google Messages, and Samsung’s camera menus and focus behavior differ across models. Check the app and conversation in use before changing settings or assuming the phone has a hardware fault.
