Samsung Electronics Singapore and New York-based Reality Defender signed a memorandum of understanding on 14 October 2026 to develop and deploy an on-device deepfake-detection solution for enterprises in Singapore. The proposal covers AI-generated voice, video and images on specified Galaxy hardware, but Samsung has not announced a consumer release, launch date, pricing or performance results.

What Samsung and Reality Defender announced

The agreement is an MoU between Samsung Electronics Singapore and Reality Defender, an artificial-intelligence security company headquartered in New York. Its stated purpose is to create a deepfake-detection capability for enterprise use in Singapore. The announcement describes a proposed collaboration rather than a finished product or a general Galaxy software rollout.

The system is intended to identify synthetic or manipulated voice, video and still images. Samsung says the analysis would happen directly on a secured Galaxy device, helping organizations examine sensitive media without first sending it to a cloud service.

Which Galaxy devices are named

The release’s device footnote names the “Galaxy S26 Series and beyond; and Galaxy flagship tablets.” That wording identifies the hardware family being considered for the enterprise deployment. It does not establish that every Galaxy S26 device currently has the detector enabled, nor that older Galaxy phones will receive it.

How the proposed detection would work

Multimodal analysis

Reality Defender says its ensemble of AI models examines voice, video and images in real time. Its described use cases include spotting audio impersonation during live calls and checking media used in know-your-customer and onboarding workflows. The company presents the approach as multimodal, so an organization could apply detection to more than one kind of synthetic content rather than relying on an audio-only or video-only check.

On-device processing

Samsung’s proposal keeps the initial analysis on the Galaxy device. That design can reduce the need to upload recordings, camera footage or identity documents to a remote service, an important consideration for companies handling confidential communications and customer data. The announcement does not provide a benchmark for detection accuracy, false positives, battery use, processing time or the amount of media that would leave the device.

Knox security controls

Samsung says the detector would work alongside Samsung Knox. In the announcement, Knox Vault is described as an isolated environment for sensitive data that is separate from the main operating system. Knox Enhanced Encrypted Protection (KEEP) is described as providing encrypted storage environments for individual applications. These controls are intended to isolate and protect detection-related data; they do not, by themselves, guarantee that a particular audio or video file is genuine.

Stateless detection claim

Reality Defender chief executive Ben Colman described the company’s detection as “stateless by design: nothing enrolled, nothing stored.” That statement indicates an intended workflow in which material is checked without creating a persistent voice or face profile. The Samsung announcement does not spell out retention settings, audit logs or enterprise administration requirements for the proposed Galaxy implementation.

Why Singapore is the initial focus

Samsung cites several Singapore-specific indicators of impersonation risk. Regula’s 2024 figures, as cited in the announcement, say 56% of Singapore businesses had faced audio deepfake-fraud incidents and 52% had experienced video deepfakes. The Singapore Police Force figure cited by Samsung says victims lost at least S$242.9 million to Government Officials Impersonation Scams in 2025, equal to 26.6% of scam losses by amount.

Those statistics explain the enterprise focus: banks, government contractors, call centers and identity-verification teams may need to assess a suspicious call or onboarding submission before staff act on it. They do not show how accurately the proposed Samsung implementation would perform in those environments.

What the partnership means for Galaxy owners

Will a Samsung phone detect deepfakes now?

Not on the evidence in this announcement. The MoU describes development and intended deployment for enterprises in Singapore. It does not say that a deepfake detector is active on every Galaxy phone, that it is included in the consumer camera or calling apps, or that it is available through a public software update.

Does Galaxy S26 have the feature?

The Galaxy S26 Series is named as part of the proposed supported hardware family. That is a compatibility target, not confirmation of an enabled feature on retail devices. Samsung has not announced a public release date, supported applications, regional expansion or a consumer setting for Galaxy S26 owners.

What has not been announced

  • No launch date or completed product release.
  • No consumer availability or pricing.
  • No accuracy, recall, false-positive or latency measurements.
  • No list of supported Galaxy S26 models, tablet models or software versions beyond the named device families.
  • No detailed data-retention policy for the Samsung deployment.
  • No guarantee that a detection warning proves media is authentic; detection systems can require human review and other fraud controls.

Reality Defender’s role and corporate context

Reality Defender supplies the detection technology described in the proposal and says it serves enterprise, government and institutional customers. In an April 3, 2025 announcement, the company disclosed strategic investments from BNY, Samsung Next and Fusion Fund; it did not disclose investment terms. That investment announcement is corporate context, not evidence that the Galaxy solution has launched or met a particular detection standard.

What enterprises should ask before deployment

  1. Scope: Confirm which Galaxy models, tablet models, applications and media formats are supported in the Singapore release.
  2. Workflow: Establish whether checks run during live calls, after recording, during KYC, during onboarding or in all of those situations.
  3. Privacy: Document what is processed on-device, whether any metadata or alerts leave the device, and how long organizations may retain results.
  4. Security: Verify how Knox Vault and KEEP are configured, who can access alerts, and how administrators receive security updates.
  5. Operations: Request independently published accuracy and false-positive data for the languages, accents, codecs and attack types used by the organization.
  6. Escalation: Define a human-review and call-back procedure for high-risk alerts instead of treating an automated score as conclusive proof.

Bottom line

Samsung’s partnership with Reality Defender is a Singapore enterprise proposal for on-device detection of AI-generated voice, video and images on Galaxy S26-series-and-later devices and flagship tablets. Its privacy-oriented design and Knox integration address important deployment concerns, but consumer availability, timing, pricing and technical performance remain unannounced.
