Samsung One UI is the software interface used on Galaxy phones and tablets. One UI 8 adds Samsung-described AI, security, and form-factor features, but which features you get—and when an update arrives—depends on your exact device and market. You can check directly in Settings > Software update.
What is Samsung One UI?
One UI is Samsung’s interface for Galaxy phones and tablets: the software layer through which you use the device and its features. Samsung’s design guidelines describe the goal as a consistent experience on an individual device and a unified experience across mobile devices. The guidelines cover phones, foldables, tablets, different screen sizes and aspect ratios, and Samsung DeX; they describe design intent rather than the feature set of current One UI versions. For a prospective buyer, “Galaxy” alone does not guarantee an identical experience across models. Screen form, hardware, market, and software version can all affect which functions are available. A Galaxy phone or tablet is the device needed to use One UI; a case or screen protector is optional and has no role in enabling the interface.
What’s new in One UI 8?
Samsung announced the One UI 8 rollout on September 15, 2025, describing updates across AI experiences, security, and adaptations for different Galaxy form factors. The examples below are Samsung’s feature descriptions, not independent test results, and they should not be read as a promise that every feature appears on every eligible device. Availability can depend on device, country, language, account, app, and network. Samsung Global Newsroom’s One UI 8 rollout announcement

Samsung also described UX adaptations for different form factors, including cover-screen experiences on foldables and Multi Window workflows. Whether a particular option is present depends on the model and software availability.
Which Samsung phones and tablets get One UI 8?
There is no single worldwide compatibility list that guarantees the same eligibility or rollout timing everywhere. Samsung Canada’s support overview, last updated July 16, 2026, lists Galaxy S and Z phone families, Tab S tablets, and selected A-series phones released with or expected to receive One UI 8. The page applies to devices sold in Canada and warns that availability varies by model, carrier, and network; it also notes that some AI features may be limited or unsupported on particular models. Check the page for the Canadian device families, then confirm availability for your specific device. Samsung Canada’s One UI 8 device and support overview

Samsung’s September 2025 announcement named the Galaxy S25 and S24 families, Z Fold6 and Z Flip6, S24 FE, and other Galaxy phone and tablet families in its rollout plan for that year. That announcement is a plan, not proof that every named model received the update in every country. For a buying or update decision, compare the exact model, market, carrier or unlocked status, and any specific feature you need rather than relying on the family name alone.
How do I check for a One UI update?
- Open Settings on your Galaxy phone or tablet.
- Tap Software update.
- Choose the option to check for an available update and follow the on-screen prompts if one is offered.
If no update appears, that does not establish that the device will never receive it. Rollouts can vary by model, country, carrier, and network. Samsung says unlocked devices typically receive updates sooner because carrier-locked devices may go through carrier review and customization. Check again later or consult Samsung support for your local market and exact model; do not assume a general announcement establishes an arrival date for your device.
