On Samsung One UI 9, the supported way to add a font without root is to download one from Galaxy Store through Settings. If you want to install your own TTF or OTF file, you’ll need a third-party workaround; recent guides describe methods for some devices, but Samsung does not document or guarantee them. Check compatibility with your exact Galaxy model, One UI build, Android version, and security patch before trying one.
Choose the right font-install method

If a Galaxy Store font meets your needs, use that route. Choose an imported font only if you already have a font file and are willing to verify the workaround’s current requirements and permissions.
Install a font from Galaxy Store
- Open Settings and search for Font size and style. Samsung Support recommends Settings search; the exact menu labels can vary by device, software version, or region.
- Tap Font style, then Download fonts. Galaxy Store opens.
- Choose and install a font in Galaxy Store.
- Return to Font style settings and select the installed font to apply it.
Samsung’s Gulf support article describes the menu route as Display > Font size and style > Font style > Download Fonts. If your menus differ, use Settings search for “Font size and style.” Samsung’s built-in controls also include font size, bold text, downloadable fonts, and high-contrast fonts. Import a custom TTF or OTF without root
Installing a font file you provide is different from downloading a font through Galaxy Store. It requires third-party software, and there is no Samsung-supported One UI 9 process for importing arbitrary TTF or OTF files. Project documentation and recent secondary reporting describe workarounds, including tools that create, sign, and install font packages. Those reports do not establish that a method works on every One UI 9 phone or patch.

- Check your software details. Note your Galaxy model, One UI build, Android version, and security patch. Compatibility reports for one build do not prove compatibility with another.
- Read the utility’s current instructions. Use only the project’s official documentation and release/download channel. Confirm that its instructions explicitly match your device and build before installing anything.
- Review permissions and prerequisites. Some reported approaches use Shizuku. Understand what the utility requests and why; do not dismiss system warnings or grant permissions you cannot evaluate.
- Use a font file you are entitled to use. Follow the utility’s documented steps to import the TTF or OTF and apply it. Do not assume a font file will install simply because it is valid or works on another phone.
- Check the result and recheck after updates. If the font fails to apply, stop and consult the project’s current troubleshooting guidance for your exact build. A system update or security patch can change whether a workaround functions.
SamFonts’ project documentation describes a Samsung font utility and its Shizuku-based workflow. Its release page listed version 4.3.1, released October 3, 2026, and noted a fix for a Knox approval failure. These details can change; check the current release notes rather than relying on a version number or old instructions. A September 22, 2026 AndroidSage guide also reports a no-root route using recent SamFonts or zFont versions. Neither source establishes universal compatibility, and neither makes the process an official Samsung feature.
zFont’s FAQ says basic font changing does not require root on supported brands and versions and describes importing fonts. That is the maintainer’s general, version-dependent claim—not confirmation that a particular One UI 9 model and patch is supported. Check the zFont project page and its current guidance for the specific device before proceeding.

Why older font tutorials may no longer work
Samsung has changed how unauthorized font tools work across software updates. SamMobile reported on March 31, 2026, that Samsung closed a loophole used by unauthorized apps after users said zFont-installed fonts stopped working on One UI 8.5 beta 8 and builds carrying the March 2026 security patch. That report does not prove that every workaround fails on One UI 9, but it is a clear reason to distrust tutorials that do not identify their software build and date.

SamMobile’s report documents that earlier change. Current workarounds reported for One UI 9 should still be treated as build-sensitive: availability can change with later updates, and the sources do not provide a complete model-by-patch compatibility chart.

What changes after applying a font
A selected system font may not look identical in every app. Samsung cautions that some third-party apps may not support custom fonts, and very large font sizes may work only in certain apps. A keyboard, an app’s own interface, or text inside an embedded web view may render differently from system menus. The font setting changes system text where supported; it does not guarantee that every app will use the chosen typeface.
