No—the Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra is water resistant, not waterproof. Samsung rates it IP68 and specifies testing in up to 1.5 meters of freshwater for up to 30 minutes. Those are controlled test limits, not a guarantee that every wet-phone incident is safe.
What the Note20 Ultra’s IP68 rating means
Samsung’s product announcement gives the Note20 Ultra an IP68 rating and describes the test condition as up to 1.5 meters of freshwater for up to 30 minutes. The rating is useful context, but Samsung’s manual warns that the device is not impervious to water damage in every situation. Samsung’s product announcement · Note20 series user manual
Can you take the Note20 Ultra in a pool or the sea?
Do not treat the IP68 rating as permission to swim with the phone. Samsung Korea Service cautions against saltwater, pool water, soapy water, and other contaminated or chemical liquids. Its guidance is regional, but it reinforces that the freshwater test condition does not establish protection in pools or seawater. Samsung Korea Service guidance
The manual also warns against high-pressure water and immersion deeper than 1.5 meters or longer than 30 minutes. A drop or impact can damage the phone’s water- and dust-resistant features. For planned water activities, an optional phone pouch may provide an additional barrier, but Samsung’s cited guidance does not endorse any particular pouch or establish that one guarantees protection.

What to do if your Note20 Ultra gets wet
- Do not charge it while wet. The Note20 series manual specifically advises against charging a wet device.
- For fresh water, dry it thoroughly. Use a clean, soft cloth as Samsung directs.
- For other liquids, rinse with fresh water, then dry. The manual recommends this after exposure to a liquid other than fresh water.
- Allow wet speakers and microphones to dry. Call sound may be affected until those parts are fully dry.
Follow the Samsung Note20 series manual for its full care instructions.

Samsung Korea Service says resistance may weaken over time and with use. A phone that has been dropped or impacted may also have compromised protection, so its original rating should not be treated as a guarantee of its current condition.
