Your Samsung Keyboard microphone may have moved rather than disappeared. On supported Galaxy phones, voice input may be in the keyboard toolbar or behind the keyboard/input button on the navigation bar. Check those locations first, then confirm that a voice-input method is enabled in settings.
Where to look for the microphone first
- Open a text field. Bring up the keyboard and check its toolbar for a microphone or voice-input control.
- Check the navigation bar. Some Galaxy configurations show a keyboard/input button there. Touch and hold it to see whether a voice-input option is available.
Samsung documents the navigation-bar button as a way to switch between keyboard and input options on supported devices. Its location and availability depend on the phone and software version. Samsung’s keyboard settings guide and the Galaxy Z Fold6 user manual describe these controls.
Turn on the navigation-bar keyboard button
If the navigation-bar control is missing, Samsung’s Galaxy Z Fold6 manual gives this path:
- Open Settings > General management > Keyboard list and default.
- Turn on Keyboard button on navigation bar.
- Open a text field and touch and hold the button to choose an input option.
The option may not appear under the same label—or be available—on every Galaxy model. Samsung says settings can vary by model, carrier and software version.

Check the Samsung Keyboard toolbar
The microphone may be among the toolbar’s additional controls, or the toolbar may be turned off.
- Open Settings > General management > Samsung Keyboard settings. If the path differs, search Settings for “Samsung Keyboard.”
- Turn on Keyboard toolbar.
- Bring up the keyboard in a text field. If the microphone is not visible, tap the three-dot Expand toolbar control to reveal more icons.
Samsung lists Voice Input as a keyboard-toolbar feature. The exact setting path and labels can vary by region and software version. Samsung’s Canadian keyboard settings guide describes the toolbar and voice-input settings.

Select a voice-input method
Samsung voice input and Google Voice Typing are separate options. Check which one is enabled rather than assuming the microphone control is tied to a single service.

- Go to Settings > General management > Keyboard list and default.
- Enable the voice-to-text option you want to use.
- Open Samsung Keyboard settings > Voice input and choose the voice-input method, if that setting is available on your device.
Samsung voice input is available only when Samsung Keyboard is in use. If you use another keyboard, Samsung’s menu directions may not apply. Finish first-use setup and check language
If you select Samsung voice input for the first time, Samsung says you may need to accept terms or grant requested permissions. Complete any setup prompt that appears. In the keyboard’s voice-input settings, also check the selected language. If you need voice input without an internet connection, install and enable the relevant offline language pack where that option is offered.

- Confirm that Samsung Keyboard is the active keyboard before following Samsung Keyboard-specific steps.
- Search Settings for “Voice input” or “Samsung Keyboard” if the listed menu path does not match your phone.
- Note your Galaxy model, One UI version, active keyboard and whether Keyboard button on navigation bar is enabled before contacting Samsung support.
Samsung cautions that menus differ by device, carrier, software version and region. Its documentation describes possible locations and settings, but does not identify one universal cause for a missing microphone on every Galaxy phone.
