To take a screenshot on a Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime, open the screen you want to capture, then press and hold the Power and Home keys together. Find the saved image in the Screenshots album in Gallery.
Take a screenshot with the J7 Prime’s buttons
- Open the screen or content you want to capture.
- Press and hold the Power and Home keys at the same time.
- Open Gallery and look for the automatically created Screenshots album.
This is the button method documented in the Samsung Galaxy J7 Prime J727T User Manual. The manual is for the J727T variant; Samsung’s Singapore Galaxy J7 Prime support page lists manuals for the wider SM-G610 family. Hardware and software variants can differ, so the optional features below may not appear on every J7 Prime.
If the button shortcut does not work
Check how you press the keys
Press both keys together and keep them held briefly. The manual specifies a press-and-hold rather than a quick tap. If the phone still does not capture the screen, try again from an ordinary screen rather than an app or page that may restrict screenshots.
Consider app restrictions
Some apps with enhanced protection can block screenshots. Samsung notes that screenshot behavior depends on the device and software, and a blocked capture in one protected app does not necessarily mean the phone’s screenshot shortcut is broken. See Samsung’s general Galaxy screenshot guidance.

Optional alternatives and newer capture features
Palm swipe
Palm-swipe capture may be available on some Samsung devices, but it is not guaranteed on every J7 Prime or software version. A Samsung Members community reply from 2017 mentions palm motion for J7 Prime users; treat it as a feature to check, not a universal instruction. If your phone offers it, look in Settings for a motion or gesture control related to palm swipe; the label and location can vary.
Scrolling capture and editing controls
Newer Galaxy phones may offer scrolling capture, screenshot previews, or editing actions. Samsung’s general guidance qualifies these functions by model and operating system, so do not assume they are present on a J7 Prime. If you need one of them, verify it on your specific phone instead of relying on instructions for a newer Galaxy model.
