Samsung says it is preparing a One UI 9.0-optimized version of Galaxy Enhance-X. While that work is underway, the app may not appear in Galaxy Store search or be downloadable on devices running newer software. Samsung plans to distribute the update gradually through Galaxy Store after optimization, but has not given a release date.
What Samsung has said about Galaxy Enhance-X
In a Samsung Members response on September 30, 2026, a Samsung camera-team moderator said the app was being prepared for One UI 9.0. The moderator explained that search and downloads were restricted on new software versions during the preparation period. Samsung’s stated plan is to distribute the optimized app gradually through Galaxy Store once optimization is complete; technical and environmental factors mean it cannot provide precise timing. This points to a temporary availability restriction during preparation, not a confirmed discontinuation. It also does not establish that the app is deleting or damaging photos. Samsung recommended keeping the app updated and separately backing up important material while waiting.

A user in the same thread said, “업데이트 전에는 있었는데 없어졌어요” (“It was there before the update, but it disappeared”). That is an individual report, not evidence about how many users are affected.

How to check One UI 9 and look for the app
Samsung announced on September 16, 2026, that One UI 9 expansion began with the Galaxy S26, S26+, and S26 Ultra after its debut on the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra, Z Fold8, and Z Flip8. The company said the rollout would gradually expand to more Galaxy devices. Availability and timing can vary by device, market, carrier, and feature.
- Check your phone’s software update: Open Settings > Software update > Download and install. Whether One UI 9 is available depends on your exact model and rollout market. Samsung UK update instructions
- Check Samsung Members: Samsung advises checking Members for device compatibility and update timing. Samsung UK One UI information
- Search Galaxy Store again later: Samsung says it intends to distribute the optimized app through Galaxy Store gradually, but has not announced when it will be available for a particular device.
- Back up important material: This follows the Samsung moderator’s recommendation while the updated app is pending; it is prudent backup advice, not a warning that photos are being lost.
Samsung’s public response names Galaxy Store as the intended update channel. It does not recommend sideloading an unofficial package, so avoid relying on unofficial downloads to restore the app.

What Galaxy Enhance-X does—and what its older compatibility list means
Samsung describes Galaxy Enhance-X as a Galaxy Store photo-editing and remastering app. Its June 20, 2023 feature announcement listed one-tap Magic enhancement, HDR, Brighten, Sharpen, Fix Blur, Fix Moiré, Remove Shadows, Remove Reflection, Fix Lens Distortion, Old Photo, and portrait or face-lighting adjustments. Samsung also said Upscale could enlarge images under 1 MP by up to four times; that is Samsung’s feature claim, not an independent performance test. Samsung Global Newsroom feature announcement
