Fixing a Samsung headset starts with identifying the model and the symptom: connection dropouts, charging trouble, and poor or one-sided audio need different checks. The guidance below focuses mainly on Galaxy Buds; steps and menu names can vary by model, phone software and country.
Start with the symptom and model
Check the model name in the Galaxy Wearable app or on the product packaging, then choose the matching problem below. Samsung’s consumer support guidance primarily covers Galaxy Buds, so instructions may not apply to every Samsung headset or older Gear IconX device.
- Won’t connect or keeps disconnecting: restart the earbuds, reduce interference and check charging.
- No sound, quiet sound or one quiet side: check fit, volume, balance and speaker openings.
- Won’t charge or turn on: inspect the case and contacts, then verify the charger and cable.
If the earbuds will not connect or keep dropping out
- Restart the earbuds: place both in the charging case, close the lid, wait at least seven seconds and remove them. This is a restart, not a factory reset. See Samsung’s connection troubleshooting steps.
- Reduce interference: move away from other wireless devices if possible, and keep an unobstructed path between the connected phone or device and the earbuds.
- Charge and inspect contacts: Samsung’s U.S. guide recommends charging for at least 30 minutes, cleaning the charging contacts and connecting the case to a Samsung-approved adapter. Charging from a computer may take longer.
- Pair again: if the restart and charging checks do not help, unpair the earbuds from the device and pair them again. Check for updates in Galaxy Wearable as well.
If sound is missing, quiet or uneven
Check fit and earbud openings
Make sure the earbuds fit securely and that the ear tips are attached correctly. Dust, earwax, oil or other debris on the speaker mesh, air ducts or ear tips can reduce volume or affect sound. Clean carefully without pushing debris into the openings. Samsung’s audio troubleshooting guide covers poor or low audio.

Check volume, balance and battery
- Raise the phone’s media volume and check any volume controls available on the earbuds.
- Check whether the phone’s media-volume limiter is restricting output.
- Look for a left/right audio balance setting on the phone and confirm it is centered. Samsung notes that some older Galaxy Buds models do not support this control.
- Check the earbuds’ battery level. If one side is not working, place both earbuds in the case so they can reconnect, then restart the earbuds and phone.
Install available earbud software updates through Galaxy Wearable. If sound remains absent or low after these checks, Samsung directs U.S. customers to request service through its support channels.

If the earbuds will not charge or turn on
- Look for damage: check the earbuds and case for cracks, chips, loose parts or other visible damage. Confirm that tips or wingtips are fitted correctly.
- Check the contacts: inspect and clean the charging contacts on the earbuds and inside the case. Dirt or residue can interfere with charging.
- Verify the charging equipment: use a cable and adapter compatible with your case. Samsung’s Gulf-region guidance recommends the included cable and a Samsung-approved wall adapter; another Samsung support page notes that replacement USB cables and adapters are available. Connector compatibility depends on the case model, so confirm the correct part before buying.
- Reconnect and allow time: if indicator lights do not work, Samsung Gulf suggests disconnecting and reconnecting the charger, then charging the case for at least 10 minutes. This guidance is regional; check Samsung support for your country and model.
If a suitable, known-good charger does not resolve the issue, arrange professional diagnosis at a Samsung service center rather than opening the earbuds or case.
How to reset Galaxy Buds
Try the restart steps before a full reset. A reset restores default settings and may help with persistent connection or performance problems; it is also useful when preparing to pair with another device. Samsung UK says both earbuds should have at least 15% battery before resetting.

- On One UI 8.0 or later: open phone Settings, select the connected Galaxy Buds, tap Manage connections, then choose Reset.
- On earlier One UI versions: open the Galaxy Wearable app, go to Manage connections and choose Reset.

When to stop troubleshooting and request service
Contact Samsung support or a service center if the relevant checks do not restore charging, sound or normal operation. Visible damage or liquid or chemical exposure can affect function; Samsung warns that physical impact and exposure may cause problems. The support guidance cited here does not provide a safe internal repair procedure, so do not open the earbuds or attempt to replace internal components at home.
