If games appeared on your Samsung Galaxy after an update, the timing alone does not prove that the update—or Gaming Hub—installed them. First check whether the games are actually installed or simply hidden from the Apps screen, then inspect each game’s app information and identify your phone’s model and carrier software. Samsung documents Gaming Hub as a place to organize games, not as a universal installer for unwanted apps.
Is Gaming Hub installing games, or just showing them?
Samsung describes Gaming Hub as a place to house and manage games. Its settings let you choose whether games appear in Gaming Hub alone or also on the Home and Apps screens. When games are set to appear only in Gaming Hub, their icons will not appear in those other screens; that visibility setting does not establish that a game was newly installed. Samsung’s Gaming Hub guidance explains its settings and notes that screens and options vary by provider, software version, and model.
Samsung Korea also distinguishes removing a game from Gaming Hub from uninstalling it from the phone. Games downloaded from app stores can be added to Gaming Hub automatically, so a game appearing there may already have been on the device. Check the Apps screen and Settings > Apps before treating a Gaming Hub listing as a new installation. Samsung Korea’s guidance on game visibility and its instructions for adding and removing games describe these distinctions.
The Galaxy Store listing describes Gaming Hub as a game-management service and promotes Instant Plays that do not require installation. That does not identify what installed a particular third-party game. Samsung’s Gaming Hub listing is not evidence that the service installs unwanted games after system updates.

What might have installed a game after an update?
There is no single cause established for all Galaxy phones. Samsung says available apps and settings can vary by wireless provider, software version, and model. Some devices include carrier-specific packages; for example, Samsung’s Knox application list documents a Mobile Services package on a particular carrier variant of the Galaxy A51. That example does not show that the package installed a game on another phone. Samsung’s app-management guidance describes variation and preloaded-app limits; Samsung Knox’s application list applies to specific device and carrier configurations.
Some owners on Samsung community forums and Reddit have attributed unwanted apps appearing around updates to AppCloud, Mobile Services, or other carrier app managers. These reports can suggest names to look for, but they are individual accounts, not confirmation of a universal cause. Neither the timing nor a forum post identifies the installer on your own device. Samsung Members community discussions and Reddit discussions are anecdotal rather than official explanations.

Also distinguish a system software update from an app-store update. Samsung gives separate instructions for checking system updates and updating apps through stores; availability and menus may depend on the carrier. How to identify what happened on your phone
- Confirm whether the game is installed. Look in the Apps screen and open Settings > Apps. If it is not visible in the normal app grid, check Gaming Hub’s game-display setting; an icon can be hidden from Home and Apps without the game being uninstalled. Menu names and availability vary by device.
- Inspect the game’s app information. Open its app-info screen and look for any installation-source or store details the phone provides. Record what is shown rather than inferring the source from when the game appeared. Samsung’s published guidance does not describe one source-attribution screen that is available on every Galaxy model.
- Record the device configuration. Note the exact phone model, country or region, carrier, software version, and any app-manager packages listed in Settings > Apps. These details matter because Samsung says available apps and controls vary across providers, models, and software versions.
- Remove the game if you do not want it. Uninstall it if that option is available. If it is preloaded and cannot be uninstalled, check whether Disable is offered. Do not disable an unfamiliar system component just because its name appears in an online report; identify it and understand its role first. Samsung notes that some preloaded apps cannot be uninstalled, and not all can be disabled.
- Ask the relevant support team if the installer is carrier-managed. If the phone’s app details point to a carrier app manager, contact the carrier or Samsung support with the model, region, software version, and app information. The available guidance does not support a universal instruction to disable a particular package or a promise that doing so will prevent future installations.

Samsung has not established a single cause for unwanted game installations across Galaxy phones, and the available evidence does not quantify how often this occurs. Avoid assuming that every Galaxy phone has the same carrier installer, or that changing Galaxy Store auto-update settings will stop carrier-managed installations; the cited guidance does not establish either claim.
