To hide the Recent album in Samsung Gallery, open Gallery > Albums > More options (three dots) > Select albums to show, then deselect Recent. On some versions, find the same control under Gallery > Menu > Gallery settings. This removes the album from Gallery’s list; it does not delete its photos or prevent other apps from seeing them.
Hide Recent from the Gallery album list
- Open the Gallery app and tap Albums.
- Tap More options (the three-dot menu).
- Choose Select albums to show. If you do not see it there, check Gallery > Menu > Gallery settings for the same setting.
- Deselect Recent. If the screen lists albums to display, keep the albums you want visible selected and turn off Recent.
- Return to the album list and check that Recent is no longer displayed.
Samsung documents this feature for Android 13 or later, and its Canada guide identifies Recent as an album you can deselect. Menu names and locations may differ by Gallery version, One UI version, model, and region; follow the labels available on your device. What hiding Recent does—and does not do
Deselecting Recent changes what the Gallery app displays. It does not erase the photos or make the underlying media private. Samsung cautions that hidden albums may still appear in other apps that can access media. Samsung Japan: Choosing albums to display in Gallery

Do not delete photos from Recent to make the album disappear. Recent is not a separate copy of your images: Samsung says deleting an item there deletes the photo from the phone. Secure Folder

Private album on eligible devices
Samsung also documents a Gallery Private album that moves selected items behind the device’s screen lock and hides them from Gallery and apps that access media. If the setting is missing
- Check both Albums > More options and Gallery > Menu > Gallery settings; the route varies across software revisions.
- Confirm which Android and One UI versions your phone runs. Samsung’s UK guidance lists Android 13 or later for Select albums to show.
- If the option remains unavailable, your model or regional software may not expose the feature in the same way. Samsung’s support guidance is region-specific, so exact availability and labels are not universal.
