Samsung Gallery can do more than display pictures: it can help you find an old shot, make everyday edits, and—on supported Galaxy devices—remove or reposition objects with AI. Start with Search or Edit on a photo; the options you see depend on your model, software version, and region.
Find an old photo with Search
When you remember what a picture shows but not its filename or album, open Gallery and tap Search. Try a descriptive word such as “beach” or “birthday,” or a phrase about when the photo was taken, such as “pictures from last summer.” Samsung says Gallery Search can accept descriptive keywords and voice commands. If one term does not find the image, try another description.
Search availability and the exact interface vary by Galaxy model and software version. Samsung’s Gallery Search guide provides its India-market examples and availability caveat.
Make everyday edits in the standard editor
Open a photo and tap Edit to reach basic adjustments. Depending on the device, you can crop or rotate the image, adjust brightness, contrast, and saturation, and apply filters. These controls are useful for straightforward changes such as tightening a composition or correcting the overall look without moving to another app.

Try spot color or a custom filter
Samsung also documents Spot Color, which can emphasize selected color while changing the rest of the image, and custom filters. They are options to explore when a standard filter feels too broad. Exact controls and availability vary across devices.

Check for suggested fixes before editing manually
Some Galaxy devices surface editing suggestions from a photo’s Details screen or when you swipe up on the image. Samsung lists Remaster, erase shadows, and erase reflections as examples. If one of these suggestions appears, you can try it before adjusting the image yourself; these options are not available on every model.

Remove or move objects with supported tools
On supported devices, Gallery may include Object Eraser or Galaxy AI Photo Assist. Samsung documents options to erase or move objects, generate content, and apply styles. These tools can help when an unwanted object distracts from the subject or you want to try a different composition.
Look in the Gallery editor for the tools available on your phone. If you want to keep the original unchanged, use the Save as copy option where offered. Samsung says some AI functions require a Samsung account and an internet connection. Its US guide also says Generative Edit output can be resized up to 12MP and generated images carry a Galaxy AI watermark; these details describe the documented US feature, not a guarantee of identical availability everywhere.

Samsung’s Gallery tools and menu paths vary by model, software version, and market. A feature shown in one support guide may not appear on another Galaxy device, and AI editing options have narrower compatibility than basic editing. Samsung also notes that some features may require an account or internet access.
