The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra is best suited to people who will regularly use its large inner screen for multitasking. Its 8-inch display and flexible software make it an impressive book-style foldable, but its video-unfriendly screen shape, premium launch price and camera trade-offs make the less expensive, wider Galaxy Z Fold 8 the better fit for many buyers. That is the verdict of Anyron Copeman, Mobile Editor at Tech Advisor, based on three weeks of use reported in his August 31, 2026 review.
Is the Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra worth the premium?
It can be, if you want a phone that opens into a compact multitasking workspace and will use that capability often. Copeman calls it one of the best phones he has tried, but says he cannot recommend it to most readers because the advantages are specialized and the standard, wider Galaxy Z Fold 8 costs less. That is his comparative judgment, not an independent test.

What the two screens are like to use
The 8-inch inner display favors work over widescreen video
The review lists an 8-inch, 2256 × 2504 OLED inner screen with a 120Hz refresh rate, alongside a 6.5-inch, 1080 × 2520 OLED cover display, also at 120Hz. The inner screen’s 10:9 shape gives apps room to sit side by side, but widescreen films and videos appear with large black bars. If video viewing, browsing, and a more phone-like tablet shape are priorities, the reviewer considers the wider Fold 8 more comfortable and better suited to those tasks.

Multitasking is the Ultra’s clearest advantage
Copeman describes One UI 9 as a strength: it can place up to three apps side by side, with a desktop-style taskbar and drag-and-drop support. Flex Mode, available in compatible apps, lets the folded phone act as its own stand. These features make the large display more than extra screen space, especially for switching between apps or keeping several visible at once.
A Bluetooth keyboard could complement that mobile-workstation setup, but the review does not test or recommend a particular keyboard. The practical question is whether you will use the expanded workspace often enough to justify paying more and accepting the screen’s compromises.

Camera review: strong main and ultrawide, no 5x periscope
The camera setup reported by Tech Advisor comprises a 200MP main camera, 50MP ultrawide and 10MP telephoto with 3x optical zoom. Copeman praises the main camera and the upgraded ultrawide, but criticizes the absence of a separate 5x periscope lens. If longer-range zoom is central to your photography, that missing option is worth weighing before purchase.

The review says the Ultra has no built-in Qi2 magnets. A compatible case is therefore needed for faster Qi2 wireless charging and magnetic accessories. Compatibility depends on the exact phone and region, so verify a case is explicitly listed for your model rather than assuming a magnetic case will work.

Who should buy the Ultra—and who should choose the wide Fold 8?
Choose the Ultra if
- You expect to use the 8-inch screen for multi-app work regularly.
- Three-app layouts, drag-and-drop and Flex Mode suit how you use a phone.
- You value the reviewed camera strengths more than having a dedicated 5x periscope lens.
Consider the wide Fold 8 if
- You care more about video, browsing and a wider, more comfortable phone-tablet shape.
- You want a foldable at the lower launch price reported in the review.
- The Ultra’s specialized multitasking advantages do not match your everyday use.
Copeman’s summary captures the trade-off as a reviewer’s opinion: “The Z Fold 8 Ultra is the best book-style foldable on the planet. But unless you love multitasking, it’s less appealing than ever before”.
