To connect a Samsung Galaxy Watch LTE, pair it with an Android phone, open Galaxy Wearable > Watch settings > Mobile plans, and follow the carrier’s activation prompts. You also need an LTE watch model and a carrier that supports that exact watch and offers an eligible service plan. Setup options and requirements vary by carrier and region.
Before you start, check the watch and carrier
- Confirm it is an LTE model. Bluetooth-only Galaxy Watches cannot connect to mobile service through these steps. If you are unsure, check the exact model in the watch or its documentation. Samsung’s US activation guide and regional activation guidance apply to LTE versions.
- Ask your carrier about compatibility and service. Confirm that it supports your exact watch model in your region, that your account is eligible, and what watch plan or activation method it requires. Samsung says plans and activation steps differ by carrier and market. Its US page names AT&T, T-Mobile, and Verizon as examples; that list is not a universal carrier list.
- Have an Android phone available for the usual setup. Samsung’s US instructions describe activation through Galaxy Wearable and specify Android 5.0 or later, at least 1.5 GB of RAM, internet access, and a SIM in the phone. These are requirements stated for that US setup guidance, not a guarantee of compatibility for every watch, phone, carrier, or region.
Activate LTE through Galaxy Wearable
- Pair the watch with your Android phone. Keep the phone connected to the internet while you set up service.
- Open Galaxy Wearable and find the mobile-plan settings. Go to Watch settings > Mobile plans. The location or wording can vary with app and software versions.
- Follow the carrier prompts. Let the app check for an eligible network, then complete the steps it presents to add or activate service. The carrier may require account details or another activation method.
- Use a carrier-issued QR code if requested. Samsung’s US guidance notes that AT&T or Verizon activation may require a QR code. Get it from the carrier and follow its directions; Samsung says a new code may be needed after resetting the watch or its mobile network.
- Check that service connects. Once activation completes, check the watch’s mobile-network status. Samsung Canada documents network controls under the watch’s settings and in Galaxy Wearable, but menu names and screens can differ by model, software, and market. See its mobile-network settings guide.
Can you activate the watch without a phone?
Sometimes. Samsung’s regional support guidance describes a standalone setup in which you follow activation prompts on the watch. Whether that route is available depends on the watch model, carrier, and market; if the watch does not offer it, use Galaxy Wearable with a compatible phone or ask the carrier about its supported setup process. Samsung’s regional activation guide covers both phone-based and standalone routes.
Why the watch may not find or activate a mobile plan
“Mobile plans” is missing
Check that the watch is an LTE model. Samsung Canada notes that the option may not appear on a non-LTE watch. If yours is LTE and the setting is still absent, check the model and software details with Samsung or your carrier; screens can vary by region.

Ask the carrier whether it supports the exact watch and whether your account has the required watch service. A compatible phone connection alone does not activate the watch’s cellular service.

The carrier asks for a QR code
Request the activation code directly from the carrier and use its instructions. The QR-code detail in Samsung’s US guidance applies to the activation methods it describes there, not necessarily to carriers in other countries. After a watch or mobile-network reset, ask whether the carrier must issue a replacement code.
Service stopped after repair, or activation still fails
Give the carrier the watch’s available device identifiers and ask it to verify compatibility, the plan, and activation. Samsung recommends checking the EID, IMEI, or ICCID; not every watch or activation state displays every identifier.

- Unlocked for all major carriers
Find the watch’s EID, IMEI, or ICCID
- On the watch, open Settings > About watch > Status info.
- Look for the identifiers shown for your model and note the ones available.
- If needed, check the watch-information screen in Galaxy Wearable.
- Contact the carrier with those details and ask it to confirm the watch is supported and correctly activated on the account.
Samsung’s US support instructions and regional support instructions describe identifier lookup and carrier help. Exact labels and which identifiers appear can vary by model and activation status.

With an active plan and carrier coverage, an LTE Galaxy Watch can use mobile connectivity for functions such as calls and messages without staying tethered to a phone. Samsung describes LTE models as able to receive calls and messages without a smartphone connection; actual availability depends on the watch, carrier service, and coverage where you use it. Confirm plan terms and charges with your carrier before activation.
