Samsung Galaxy Watch battery life ranges from a manufacturer-listed maximum of 40 hours for many standard models to 80 hours for some Pro and Ultra models, with Always On Display (AOD) often reducing the listed maximum. Those are internal-test figures, not promises of typical owner results. Your exact model, settings, activity, and connection quality all matter.
How long should a Samsung Galaxy Watch battery last?
Samsung Germany’s support table, marked as of August 2026, lists the following maximum runtimes for Galaxy Watch5 and later. Samsung says the figures come from internal testing; they are not independently measured averages or guarantees for every user. The table does not provide a separate AOD-on figure for every model.

Samsung Germany’s battery-life table says brightness, displayed content, frequency of use, and mobile, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS reception quality can change runtime. Because its figures are maximums, a result below the table’s number does not by itself show that a watch is faulty.
Is 30 hours normal for a Galaxy Watch?
It can be within Samsung’s stated maximum for models whose table lists up to 30 hours with AOD enabled, including Watch6, Watch6 Classic, Watch7, Watch8, Watch8 Classic, and Watch9. It is not a universal benchmark: the table gives different figures for Watch5, Watch5 Pro, FE, and Ultra models, and actual runtime varies with use. Check the exact model and whether AOD is on before interpreting your result.

Why is my Galaxy Watch battery draining so fast?
Start with the factors Samsung explicitly identifies rather than assuming a battery defect. A bright screen, frequently changing display content, frequent interaction, and weak or variable wireless and GPS reception can all affect battery life. Features that rely on connectivity or location—such as mobile service and GPS workouts—are sensible things to review if you use them often, but Samsung does not publish a universal percentage of battery consumed by each.
- Screen: AOD, high brightness, and frequent screen wake-ups can increase display use.
- Workout and health features: GPS exercise sessions and active tracking add use compared with a watch that is mostly idle.
- Connections: Mobile, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS reception quality are among Samsung’s listed runtime factors.
- Apps and software: Samsung UK notes that a buggy app can use excessive battery and advises keeping apps updated.
If battery life suddenly changes, first compare a similar day of use with your usual pattern. A one-day result can be affected by more screen interaction, workouts, notifications, or poor reception; it is not enough on its own to establish a hardware problem.

How can I make my Samsung watch battery last longer?
Samsung UK’s battery troubleshooting guidance recommends several practical checks. Exact menu names and paths can vary by model and software version, so use the equivalent controls on your watch or in the Galaxy Wearable app.
- Update apps and watch software. Samsung says app bugs can cause excessive battery use; update apps and install available software updates.
- Turn off health tracking you do not use. Disable unused trackers rather than leaving every feature active.
- Reduce unnecessary media and background activity. Close or remove stored media and background apps you do not need.
- Limit unused network connections. Turn off the relevant connection when its features are not needed.
- Turn off AOD and reduce screen wake-ups. Review notification settings that illuminate the display, and reduce screen brightness if practical.
- Check the watch and charging setup. Look for physical or liquid damage, and use a Samsung-approved charger and accessories intended for your specific device.
What do Galaxy Watch power-saving modes turn off?
Samsung’s Watch7 and Ultra power-saving guide describes Power Saving mode as a package of compromises, not simply a lower-brightness setting. It disables Wi-Fi, AOD, and wake-up gesture, and limits CPU performance, background network use, location services, syncing frequency, screen brightness, and screen timeout.

Limit health features
The same guide describes an optional “Limit health features” setting. It disables workout auto-detection, high- and low-heart-rate alerts, background heart-rate monitoring, and movement and respiration tracking during sleep. Samsung says sleep score will not be calculated while this option is active.
Exercise Power Saving on Galaxy Watch Ultra
For Ultra workouts, Exercise Power Saving reduces GPS and heart-rate recording accuracy, turns off Bluetooth and network connections, and removes the audio guide. It may be useful when extending a long workout matters more than those features, but it is not equivalent to ordinary GPS tracking.

How long can a Galaxy Watch Ultra last in power-saving modes?
These figures refer to different operating conditions and should not be treated as ordinary daily-use estimates. Samsung Germany lists up to 48 hours of continuous GPS tracking for the Watch Ultra family in Exercise Power Saving mode. Samsung’s US Ultra page separately advertises up to 100 hours in Power Saving mode and up to 48 hours in Exercise Power Saving mode. The 80-hour maximum with AOD off and 60-hour maximum with AOD on are separate normal-mode figures in Samsung Germany’s table; the power-saving claims do not replace them.

When should I suspect a charging or battery problem?
Short runtime alone cannot distinguish heavy use from a battery or charging fault. If the watch is not charging as expected, inspect it for physical or liquid damage and verify that you are using a Samsung-approved charger made for that model, as Samsung UK advises. For persistent problems after checking software, settings, and charging compatibility, contact Samsung support for model-specific diagnosis rather than relying on a runtime maximum as a pass/fail test.
