You can’t connect a Samsung Galaxy Watch directly to a Dexcom G7 sensor using Dexcom’s Direct to Watch feature. Dexcom currently supports that feature only on Apple Watch, including for G7 15 Day. A Samsung watch may be able to show readings in standard smartwatch mode, which copies them from the phone; Dexcom’s published guidance does not confirm compatibility for any specific Galaxy Watch model and software combination. Dexcom’s FAQ states that Direct to Watch is currently compatible only with Apple Watch.
What “adding Dexcom to a watch” means
There are two different connection paths, and they are not interchangeable:
- Direct to Watch: the watch communicates with the sensor. Dexcom’s current G7 guidance supports this feature only on Apple Watch.
- Standard smartwatch mode: the watch displays information copied from the phone. The sensor communicates with the phone, and the phone relays readings to the watch.
In standard mode, the watch is not an independent receiver. For G7 readings to reach it, Dexcom says the phone must remain within 20 feet. A gray phone icon on the watch indicates standard mode. Dexcom explains the two modes, and its phone-distance FAQ gives the proximity requirement.
Can a Samsung Galaxy Watch display Dexcom readings?
Possibly through standard smartwatch mode, but the available Dexcom guidance does not verify a specific Galaxy Watch model, Android version, or software combination. Dexcom directs Android users to the watch manufacturer for compatibility details. That general direction is not confirmation that a particular Samsung watch works with a particular phone and G7 app version.

There is no Samsung setup path for G7 Direct to Watch in Dexcom’s current published compatibility guidance. Do not treat an unofficial watch face, third-party app, or bridge as proof of an approved direct sensor connection.
How the watch modes compare

What to check before trying standard mode
- Confirm the exact Galaxy Watch model, phone model, Android version, and Dexcom app version with Samsung and Dexcom. Dexcom’s Android guidance does not establish support for every combination.
- Use the official Dexcom app and Samsung’s supported connection and notification settings. Avoid relying on unofficial bridges for medical readings or alerts.
- Keep the phone within 20 feet when using G7 standard smartwatch mode, and check for the gray phone icon as the indication that the watch is receiving copied data.
- If readings do not appear, consult Dexcom and the watch manufacturer for device-specific troubleshooting rather than assuming the sensor can pair directly with the watch.
For comparison: Dexcom’s supported Apple Watch Direct to Watch setup
This is not a Samsung setup alternative, but it clarifies what Dexcom’s direct connection requires. Dexcom lists Apple Watch Series 6 or later with watchOS 10 or later, an iPhone with iOS 17, and G7 app version 2.2.1 or later for Direct to Watch. Start in the phone app at Connections > Direct to Watch and follow the on-screen steps; the watch must accept the pairing request. Use a meter when readings do not match how you feel
A smartwatch display should not be treated as a reason to improvise a treatment decision. Dexcom advises using a blood glucose meter for treatment decisions if CGM readings do not match symptoms or expectations.
