Short answer: Choose the Lenovo Tab P12 when it is substantially cheaper and you want the largest possible screen, a higher display resolution, a bigger battery and four-speaker entertainment. Choose the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE when prices are close, you want a smoother 90Hz display, a pen guaranteed in the box and IP68 protection for both the tablet and pen.

Value depends on the exact local configuration. Compare identical storage, Wi‑Fi or cellular connectivity and the accessories included in the box before deciding; seller listings can differ materially.

Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE and Lenovo Tab P12 compared

These are both mid-range Android tablets, but they prioritize different kinds of value. Samsung makes the Galaxy Tab S9 FE a relatively compact, pen-ready tablet with water and dust protection. Lenovo makes the Tab P12 a large-format tablet aimed at spacious documents, split-screen work and media playback.

Display: workspace versus smoothness

When the Lenovo Tab P12’s size matters

The P12’s 12.7-inch panel gives documents, spreadsheets, sheet music and two-app layouts more room. Its 2944×1840 resolution also provides a denser canvas for fine text and detailed images. If you regularly keep a PDF open beside a notes app, or use the tablet as a lightweight laptop substitute with a keyboard, the additional area reduces zooming and constant scrolling.

Lenovo specifies 400 nits for this LTPS LCD. That is a useful reference for indoor work and ordinary travel, but screen visibility still depends on reflections and direct sunlight. The specification does not establish outdoor readability in every condition.

Why the Samsung panel can feel faster

The S9 FE’s 90Hz refresh rate allows the interface to redraw more often than the P12’s 60Hz panel. Scrolling through long web pages, moving between home screens and writing with a stylus can look more fluid, even though refresh rate does not by itself make the processor faster or improve application performance.

Its smaller 10.9-inch footprint is easier to manage when reading in one hand, taking notes while standing or fitting the tablet into a smaller bag. The trade-off is less room for side-by-side content. Students who mostly annotate one page at a time may prefer the compact format; researchers who keep multiple references visible may value Lenovo’s canvas more.

Choosing for your visual workload

  • Pick the P12 display for split-screen study, large diagrams, comics, sheet music and films viewed from a stand.
  • Pick the S9 FE display for handheld reading, frequent scrolling and pen input where motion smoothness matters.
  • Neither specification establishes a superior color profile or a universal outdoor winner, so inspect the panel in person if those factors are critical.

Performance: two different mid-range chips

Samsung uses the Exynos 1380, while Lenovo uses the MediaTek Dimensity 7050. Both are contemporary mid-range system-on-chips, but the cited material does not include a controlled benchmark run using the same software, memory configuration and thermal conditions. It would therefore be misleading to declare one tablet universally faster.

  • WATER RESISTANT, FROM DROPS TO DUNKS: From droplets to splashes to full immersion in water, Galaxy Tab S10 FE Series is dependably durable.⁵

For everyday work, evaluate the tasks that actually fill your day: browser tabs, video calls, handwriting, document editing, games and file transfers. A tablet can feel slower because of an aggressive battery mode, a busy background sync queue or a demanding app rather than because its chip loses a benchmark. Check the exact RAM and storage configuration offered in your market as well; the supplied specifications identify storage capacities but do not establish a single memory configuration for every region.

What the processor choice means in practice

  • For notes, streaming, email and office documents, either platform is aimed at the same general class of workload.
  • For sustained 3D games or heavy multitasking, look for independent testing of the exact regional SKU rather than extrapolating from the chip name.
  • Do not pay a premium solely for a processor label when the price difference instead buys a larger display, included pen or cellular connectivity that you will use every day.

Battery capacity, charging and realistic endurance

Capacity is not the same as runtime

Samsung lists an 8,000mAh typical battery. Lenovo lists 10,200mAh, a materially larger capacity, and its US product page claims up to 10 hours under Lenovo’s internal test conditions. That “up to” figure is not a universal runtime guarantee: brightness, refresh behavior, video codec, Wi‑Fi strength, games and background services all change consumption. Lenovo’s test method is not directly comparable with every Samsung workload.

The P12’s larger cell is an advantage for long sessions away from an outlet, but its bigger, higher-resolution display can also draw more power. Conversely, the S9 FE’s smaller panel may offset some of its lower capacity in light use. Treat battery size as headroom, not a promise of a fixed number of hours.

Charging considerations

Lenovo documents 30W quick charging for the P12. The cited Samsung specifications do not establish a directly comparable charging rate, so do not assume equal recharge times from the capacities alone. Check whether a suitable charger is included with the local package and whether your existing USB‑C charger meets the tablet’s requirements.

Match battery priorities to your routine

  • Choose Lenovo when long reading or video sessions, travel and fewer charging opportunities matter more than compactness.
  • Choose Samsung when you normally work near power and value the smaller body, 90Hz interaction and pen durability.
  • If you use a cellular model, account for mobile-radio power draw when comparing your expected endurance.

Handwriting and studying

Samsung: pen certainty and protection

Samsung includes an S Pen with the Galaxy Tab S9 FE. Samsung also states that the inbox S Pen and tablet carry an IP68 rating. That combination removes two common purchase checks: whether a stylus is in the box and whether the pen has the same water and dust protection as the tablet.

For class notes, annotate PDFs and handwritten to-do lists, the out-of-box bundle is straightforward: charge the tablet, pair or attach the pen as directed by the device and begin writing. The supplied specifications do not establish a particular note application or a latency benchmark, so judge handwriting feel in the apps you intend to use.

Lenovo: large writing area, variable bundle

The Tab P12 supports Lenovo’s Tab Pen Plus. Lenovo’s regional packages differ, so a listing may include the pen, sell it separately or bundle it with a keyboard. Confirm the exact contents before checkout; a lower tablet price can disappear once you add the stylus required for your course.

The P12’s larger panel is useful for diagrams, wide margins and keeping a reference page visible while writing. Its pogo connector also provides a documented path to a compatible keyboard, although keyboard inclusion is likewise SKU-dependent.

Study decision

  • Select the S9 FE if you need a dependable pen bundle, IP68 protection or a lighter-feeling handheld study tool.
  • Select the P12 if your notes benefit from a large canvas and the local package includes the pen at a worthwhile total price.
  • For either tablet, verify palm rejection, preferred note-app compatibility and replacement-pen availability before committing to a semester-long workflow.

Durability and daily handling

IP68 protection is the clearest hardware distinction. Samsung rates both the Tab S9 FE and its included S Pen IP68, giving the S9 FE a documented defense against dust and water exposure under the applicable test conditions. That does not make it indestructible or suitable for every liquid, and ports should still be dry before charging.

The cited Lenovo specifications do not establish an IP rating for the Tab P12. Absence of a listed rating is not proof that the tablet fails a particular exposure test; it means you should not buy it assuming the same certified protection. Use a case and keep it away from spills if your routine is not controlled.

  • Long Battery Life: Provides up to 14 hours of video playback on a single charge for on-the-go entertainment.
  • High-Resolution Camera: Includes a 12MP rear camera and 5MP front camera for crisp photos and videos.
  • Fast Processor: Equipped with a powerful Snapdragon 600 quad-core processor for smooth performance.
  • Built-in Storage: Comes with 128GB of internal storage for apps, media and more.

Movies, music and casual entertainment

Lenovo explicitly lists four JBL speakers with Dolby Atmos. Combined with the larger display, that makes the P12 the better-documented media option for watching from a stand or sharing a screen in a room.

Samsung’s cited source does not establish a speaker count, so a specification-only comparison cannot award it an audio advantage. The S9 FE’s smaller body can still be preferable for personal viewing in bed or while commuting, where portability matters more than maximum screen area. Use headphones or external speakers when room-filling sound is important.

Productivity, software and accessories

Samsung’s software integration and compact form favor users who move between handwritten notes, general Android apps and a portable setup. Lenovo’s larger workspace, documented pogo connector and optional keyboard path favor desk-based typing and split-screen reference work. Neither product’s cited specifications establish a universal software-performance winner.

Accessory pricing can change the value calculation. On Samsung, the included S Pen is part of the baseline package. On Lenovo, price the Tab Pen Plus and keyboard separately unless the listing clearly includes them. A keyboard connector is useful only if the keyboard is available for your regional model and fits your typing needs.

Storage and expansion

Both product families offer 128GB and 256GB storage variants and support microSD expansion. App installation, downloaded video, offline maps and large PDF libraries can consume internal space quickly, so compare the same capacity when checking prices. A 128GB tablet with a card slot is not equivalent to a 256GB tablet if you need fast internal space for demanding apps.

Wireless and ports

Samsung is sold in Wi‑Fi and 5G variants, but USB‑C details vary by SKU. Lenovo documents Wi‑Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, USB‑C 2.0, microSD and a pogo connector. Confirm cellular bands, SIM support, charging behavior and display-output compatibility for the exact model number; the family name alone is not enough.

How to compare the real price

There is no single global street price for either tablet. Indicative India retail listings reviewed in 2026 show that seller, storage, connectivity and bundle contents can change the price materially. Treat any headline deal as a starting point, not a universal market value.

  1. Write down the exact model number, storage capacity and Wi‑Fi or 5G status for each offer.
  2. List every included accessory: S Pen, Tab Pen Plus, keyboard, charger and case.
  3. Compare the delivered total in the same currency, including taxes, shipping and any required stylus purchase.
  4. Check the seller’s warranty region and return terms, especially for imported cellular variants.
  5. Recalculate the totals if a promotion expires; a temporary discount can reverse the recommendation.

Which tablet should you buy?

Buy the Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE if…

  • You want a pen included without researching regional bundles.
  • IP68 protection for the tablet and pen matters for travel, field work or spill-prone environments.
  • You prefer smoother scrolling and a more compact 10.9-inch device.
  • The Samsung and Lenovo offers are similarly equipped and similarly priced.
  • You want the option of a 5G variant where that model is sold.

Buy the Lenovo Tab P12 if…

  • You can buy it materially cheaper after adding any required pen or keyboard.
  • A 12.7-inch, 3K-class workspace is more valuable than 90Hz scrolling.
  • You prioritize the larger 10,200mAh battery and Lenovo’s documented up-to-10-hour internal test claim.
  • You watch media through built-in speakers and value four JBL speakers with Dolby Atmos.
  • You need a documented pogo connector for a compatible keyboard.

When neither is the clear choice

If your decision depends on sustained gaming performance, professional color work, a specific cellular band or a known stylus-latency target, the supplied specifications do not answer those questions. Seek independent testing of the exact regional SKU and verify the accessory and warranty details before purchase rather than inferring an answer from the processor name or screen size.

Special offer. See more information about Outbyte and uninstall instructions. Please review EULA and Privacy policy.

Bottom line

The Lenovo Tab P12 offers the stronger hardware-per-dollar proposition when its local price is clearly lower: you get more screen, more pixels, a larger battery and a four-speaker media setup. The Samsung Galaxy Tab S9 FE is the safer all-round value when prices are close because the 90Hz display, included S Pen and IP68 protection reduce compromises. Compare like-for-like storage, connectivity and accessories, then choose the screen or the protection-and-pen package that matches your actual routine.
