The standard Galaxy S26 is a modest step up from the standard Galaxy S25: it has a slightly larger display and a higher stated battery capacity, while Samsung lists the same headline rear-camera resolutions for both. If you already own an S25, whether to upgrade depends on how much you value those changes, whether you prefer a larger phone, and the actual net cost after any trade-in or local discount.
What’s different between the Galaxy S26 and S25?
Samsung’s comparison pages show a small increase in screen size and battery capacity for the standard S26. The headline rear-camera resolutions remain the same. These specifications apply to the standard models, not the Plus or Ultra versions.
| Feature | Galaxy S26 | Galaxy S25 | What the difference means |
|---|---|---|---|
| Display | 6.3-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, 120 Hz | 6.2-inch FHD+ Dynamic AMOLED 2X, 120 Hz | The S26 is slightly larger. Samsung measures the diagonal across the full rectangle; rounded corners make the viewable area smaller. |
| Typical battery capacity | 4,300 mAh | 4,000 mAh | The S26 has greater stated capacity, but capacity alone does not show how much longer it lasts in everyday use. |
| Rear-camera resolutions | 12 MP ultra-wide, 50 MP wide, 10 MP telephoto | 12 MP ultra-wide, 50 MP wide, 10 MP telephoto | The listed resolutions are unchanged; they do not establish whether image quality has improved. |
| Processor | Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy or Exynos 2600, depending on market | Snapdragon 8 Elite for Galaxy in Samsung’s regional comparison | Check the processor in the exact local S26 configuration rather than assuming every market gets the same version. |
Specifications are from Samsung UK’s Galaxy S25 vs. S26 comparison and Samsung Ireland’s comparison.

For an S25 owner, the case for upgrading is strongest if you want a slightly larger screen or place value on the S26’s higher stated battery capacity. If you like the S25’s size and are satisfied with its camera, the listed specifications offer less reason to switch. The right choice also depends on the price you would actually pay: compare the S26’s local price after trade-in with any discount available on the S25. Current local prices, trade-in offers, and S25 discounts are not established here.

Is the S26 camera better?
Samsung lists the same rear-camera resolutions for the standard S26 and S25: 12 MP ultra-wide, 50 MP wide, and 10 MP telephoto. Resolution alone cannot establish photo quality, and no independent head-to-head camera test is available here to support a claim that the S26 takes better pictures. Treat image-quality improvements as unproven rather than assuming the newer model is better.
How much bigger is the S26 battery?
Samsung lists a 4,300 mAh typical battery for the S26 and 4,000 mAh for the S25, a stated capacity difference of 300 mAh. That figure describes capacity, not measured battery life. It does not by itself show how many extra hours the S26 will last, since real-world endurance requires comparable testing.
